My windshield wipers chatter like crazy to the point that having automatic wipers is more of a curse than a blessing. I'm wondering if anyone on here has similar issues and if so, how they've gone about fixing them. I was thinking maybe a windshield sealant/coating would help lubricate things. Anyone else have this experience/have any fixes they recommend?

I've only ever run OEM blades and have had the same issue with both sets I've put on in my ownership. Trying to remember how long (if at all) they worked without chattering but it's been a while since I've replaced them.

Mine starting doing this VERY badly after a safelite windshield replacement. I tried adding rainex and claybaring, but nothing helped. I had been using the "high end" autozone rainex blades that are one solid body instead of the old ugly metal ones. For some reason I thought that could be the problem, so I got a set of the cheaper old fashioned blades from autozone and the problem went away! I'm on my second set of cheap ones and they work great.

My guess is the curvature of the glass just didn't work well with that design of blade.

I have cured chattering wipers by changing the angle of the blade with respect to the glass. As in, take a crescent wrench and twist the actual wiper arm a little just to get the angle slightly different. Might take some experimentation to get it to go away.

There aren’t better, more “solid”, blades than the original Toyota ones. Plus you can buy just the rubber insert to keep your wipers fresh for a long time very affordably. And to be clear, these are not what Toyota dealer service departments sell. They must be special ordered.

That’s not to say they can’t chatter, but that will be a linkage or blade angle issue.

^Yes! Stock, and always stock for me.

Except the Safelite guy that change my windshield a couple years ago swapped my OEM wipers for theirs as part of their "curtesy" service. I didn't notice until weeks later. I want my original wiper frames back to run OEM inserts!

Apparently I haven't put in a partsouq order since I moved across the country and, well... I didn't catch that little detail so I won't have any updates on this for a minute. Thankfully my nephew was able to porch pirate them for me (I contacted the people that live at my previous residence first), but I'm now at the whims of a 19 year old college student. He's more proactive than most, but still...

You can order them from US dealers, you just have to request the specific part for the original and not go in to the dealer and ask for wiper blades for a 200 series. They are only like $20 each.

I ordered a new driver’s side arm so there’s no sense in spending $20/40 just to burn one/both of them because of a bent arm but good to know for the future.

I’ve read reports on here of some dealers subbing the sight line crap when people specify the genuine parts. So it may be worth an extra email to make sure they send what is requested.

I have a '13 lc200. Wanna make sure that my high beam bulb is 9005 and the front fog is 9006 :)
Going to order some to match the stock xenon color temp. As of now looking at Sylvania silver star ultra

2017 Land Cruiser,

Does the 3rd row dome light come on when you open the doors or turn the dome lights on from the front switch?

Or do they only come on when you press the on/off switch in the 3rd row?

Mine do not turn on with the mid and front dome lights when open in the door or hitting the on button in the front.

It will turn on when I go back there and press it manually.

On my 2018 it comes on with both doors and switch.

They are also available on Amazon, about $12 each blade refill.

Are there any Group 31 batteries that would work in a pinch without the Slee tray? May need to get a new battery and I'll order the tray but still need to be able to drive the car.
Look up "Homebrew Group 31" on here, just did it myself actually and the terminal extensions are easy to make. $20 stainless tray from amazon, secured through the wheel well. Just be prepared to upgrade your driver front suspension with the weight lol

EDIT: Went with the Duracell SLI31SA as it looks equivalent to the Deka Group 31. Yes, have to purchase from Batteries Plus, but readily available and 18mos to take the thing back in for a new one.

I hope you don't have any issues with your Duracell. B+ is a B to deal with when the chips are down.

Fun Fact: I was in a Napa yesterday and saw a group 31 lead acid battery there. Napa labeled, made by East Penn or Clarios.

EDIT: Found it!

Ya same. If I do, at $159 for what it is, I'll leave it on their doorstep and head over to NAPA or Lowes lol. Just needed a fresh battery and Lowes couldn't get me one until I was supposed to be driving across the country.

That’s funny, it even lists the Deka part# in the specs. That battery is the slightly larger 1231PMF (by capacity and weight) vs the 1131PMF most of us are chasing. I believe OReilleys had the rebadged 1231 as well, but it wasn’t as readily available.

Edit: well crap.. there’s the 1131pmf and it’s way cheaper than everywhere else, says it’s eligible for the holiday 20% off as well…

Keep it for the core charge! I get where you're coming from (insert middle finger to B+ here), but don't give them any more of your money!
