Well, I'll be. I wasn't aware of this feature. Gonna have to try that out.
This definitely works, unlike the front windshield de-icer that lights up but which never seems to warm up my windshield at all...

Two Stupid questions-

1) Do any 200 series LC owners have problems with height in parking garages? I currently own a Honda Pilot, which is 3.5" shorter than a stock Land Cruiser. Even in my shorter Pilot, I feel like I'm horrifyingly close to scraping the roof in some parking garages. I'm concerned the taller Land Cruiser I'm getting might cause real issues.

2) Are LC's easy to maintain if kept 100% stock? Are Lexus dealerships generally better at performing maintenance on Land Cruisers than Toyota dealerships?

Thank you for going easy on me. New owner with mine still on the way.

1) shouldn't be any problem. Parking garages usually tell you their minimum height. Just keep in mind what your stock max height is. I wouldn't worry.
2) yes and yes, but you still have to be on your toes and ask questions and explain exactly what you want, just to be sure.

Not a stupid question at all. Genuine concern among new owners, it's a lot of money and you want to make sure it's a good investment.

I think they are generally easy to maintain, in that, they are extremely reliable. It's often the folks that do all sorts of mods then put them in challenging situations (more than the daily commute) where problems can arise early. Lexus has a very powerful and well oil machine for service, and it's a selling point for affluent customers that want a better experience when you take them in. Are they better? Well... my experience has been that once the vehicle is in the shop, it's about the same. I think the problems at Toyota dealers occur because many have never touched a Land Cruiser. And they sometimes get things wrong, because they assume it's the same as a 4Runner/Highlander/RAV4. Case in point, some assume that the driveshafts can't be greased, but they absolutely can and should be done. When I called about having the recent fuel pump recall done, nobody at the dealer knew if it was done from inside, or if they dropped the tank. Took them 2 days of asking around before they called me back.

Hope that was helpful.

Yes but my vehicle height isn't stock. Even if it was though there are lots of garages in the Chicago area which are barely 6' and you won't fit.

My wife caught the kayak rack attached to the roof rack in a garage. Bent the kayak rack. Thankfully that gave.

I had a garage here once which wasn't marked and was fine until I got to the exit. I cleared the concrete beam by maybe 1/2".

My garage at home has an 8' door. I'm 7'4" with the kayak racks and can't fit in a normal garage. Without them I'm ~6'10" which is very close

That's definitely going to depend on where you're located. In Boston, you will probably run into problems in a lot of the garages. My previous vehicle was a Mercedes G-wagon, which is a couple inches taller than a stock 200 series. Any time I drove into Boston, I had to really pay attention to the maximum height at parking garages, but it usually wasn't a problem finding one as long as I was willing to do some extra walking. So as others have said, just be aware of the height of your LC (and perhaps take an actual measurement of yours) and make sure it isn't taller than the posted max height at any garage you choose to park in.

I'm bring the LC into my usual Toyota dealer (for the first time since buying it out of state) on Monday for an oil change, and want to have them check the transmission fluid to be 100% sure it's at the right level. Does anyone have some insight into exactly how I should ask or what I should say to make sure the tech works through the actual service manual process for checking the fluid level instead of simply balking at the request and telling me all is well since it's a "sealed system"? I want to pay whatever labor it takes to do the actual process so that I can leave knowing for sure that the fluid is at the correct level. (According to the service records, the previous owner's dealership did a couple transmission fluid drain and fills through its history, but I've experienced a few odd shifting symptoms that make me think that they may have over or underfilled it during one of the fluid exchanges.)

DIY. Stupid easy.

Lots of good forum posts and YouTube videos on how to do it.

That is correct. Then there is a strap in the bottom of the seat that connects to the over head handle to hold them up. Very 1980s
A holdover from the 100 series that shouldn’t have been held over.

You mean 80 series lol. Why change it if it works right?

How do you fold up the second row seats? My end up jammed up against the tv screens. This can’t be right?
It's why many of us have removed the screens. They are ancient tech, horribly in the way, and not just for folding the second row. If you need to keep the screens and fold the second row, you have to move the front seats way up.

Here’s my SQOD. Can too much oil say around 25 ounces result in a leak down the bell housing? Checked my oil and it registered nearly 1/2” above the full mark on the dipstick.

Pulled the drain plug and allowed enough oil out so now the dipstick measures right at the full mark. I traced the drops to to the top of the bell housing near the starter side of the motor.

The drops were small enough to accumulate on the skid and discolor it but not enough to form a puddle. I cleaned up the bell housing and skid with brake cleaner and haven’t noticed any new drops Since last night. I don’t see any signs of the cam tower leak which was a positive.

Reading up here it sounds like rear main seal leaks are rare so crossing my fingers this is not the case.

vehicle is a 2013 LC With 92,000 miles. I have put around 1000 miles on it since that last oil change when it was over filled.

No, 3 cups of oil overfill isn't going to leak out anywhere. Of the pics I've seen a rear main seal leak shows up at the bottom of the bell housing and does not start at the top of the bell housing. But, I've never seen the inside of the bell housing and maybe the oil is getting slinged around in there. Others with that experience or knowledge will have to weigh in.

Also, here are the results of a search for oil leak. Pick one of these to continue your question because not everyone reads this SQOD thread.

The issue I was taught in auto shop class in high school (is that even an option anymore?) is that the spinning crankshaft will froth the oil. The danger then is getting air into the oil pump, and then not enough lubrication.

Now is that a real concern with our 5.7's?

@Sandroad thanks for the link. Going to keep an eye on it and see if it reappears. Been reading through those oil leak threads and haven’t come across anything that looks specifically like what I and am seeing. Closest is a leaking oil pan or rear main seal which both sound awful.

Has anyone bought parts for their 200 or any other car from Walmart? Was looking for replacement tail light, found the part number and good ole WallyWorld has the cheapest one and the company is Go-Parts. Apparently they do OE Replacements.. just wanted to check if anyone has experience with that brand.
