Sooo, this might be a stupid question but,

I finally took the plunge into a 200 and so far, I've been disappointed with the build quality. This was the last thing I expected. The door handles squeak, the little door to the cup holders squeaks, the center arm rest lid doesn't close correctly (there is about an 1/8th of an inch of play while closed), on and on. Mine doesn't even have 40K miles, and has been meticulously cared for according to the previous owner and dealer records. Is this normal or should I look into it further?

Thanks.

I don't have any squeaks or quality of comfort issues like that BUT I do have major mechanical issues:

1. Cam tower oil leak !!!!1!!
2. Water pump leak
3. Passenger side seat belt retractor had to be replaced
4. Driver and Passenger side door checks needed to be replaced
5. KDSS valves were frozen ( was able to break them free after much work )
6. Frozen LCA cam bolts

Nothing that has left me stranded yet but all these issues are damn expensive to repair.

OK, stupid question, got a low frequency sound coming from one of my front interior fans in the dash. Wife does not notice it but she is a little hard of hearing ;). I have 4 more years of bumper to bumper warranty still on my LX570. If I turn up the stereo to mid range I don't notice it :). My concern is having a Lexus tech take my dash apart to replace the fan and I end up with a squeaky dash or other problems? I'm thinking about just living with it and turning up the stereo until or if it gets worse or waiting a few years and having it fixed before the warranty is up. What say you?

One thing Toyota is very good at is making easy to service dash. Most things are only held together by tabs and a screw here or there. Not something I would be personally worried about.

Do the diff breathers need to be modified on a 200 or are they up high already? On my Tacoma this was everyone’s first mod. Thanks!

The ARB kit I purchased relocated them into the engine bay firewall. Id say this is because ARB thinks thats a much better placement than the stock location.

Okay, help me figure this one out. When the car is off (i.e., engine not running) and I open the back hatch, I get a long (~5 second) warning tone. Does this indicate something is wrong, or is it simply the car telling me that the back hatch is open?

Great question! But I only get it sometimes...

You're pushing both buttons on the hatch, which is telling the system to lock the doors, while you have the hatch open, causing the beep. Push the left button only, directly under the "C" in Cruiser.

I don't think this is the only reason. I've had this happen many times and I'm sure that I'm not touching the lock button.

I think another cause may be if there's a second set of keys in the vehicle and the proximity sensor detects your set behind the vehicle. I'd need to go through various scenarios but in most cases IIRC when this happens my wife (and her keys) are still in the vehicle. I think the beep may be warning that it has detected two different sets (or possibly that one set was detected by the ignition system but a different one by the exterior proximity sensors).

I thought the only time you get the long beep is if you try to lock the truck with a key still inside, or one door (or the hatch) is not fully closed.

I'd like to know the thinking behind the beeping when I shut off the engine and get ready to step out. Does it every single time.

I take it as the hatch is open. Its does the same if you had the sunroof open, engine off and walked away with the fob on your person....long beep. Its just a reminder that something is open

SO it goes all the way from the rear diff to the firewall?

I have had this feature on a few other high end cars. Outside air coming into the cabin goes through the filter. Inside recirculated air does not go through the filter. This is standard on almost all cars. Only a few vehicles offer the ability to recirculate inside air through the filter. The button in question offers this ability.

I’ve posted in classifieds “wanted” but have had no luck so I’m asking @SQOD. Does anyone who has replaced stock roof rack system want to sell OEM cross bars for a 2013 LC?

You know what really grinds my gears about my 2013....well, a few things, but hopefully I'm just missing something.

Cup holder... My 03 Sequoia had 4 for the driver and passenger, all superior to the 2 in my LC, my wife's gx470 has essentially the same 2 as the LC. Metal insulated cups rattle, slide and tilt over around corners. I dunno what they were thinking, but these are ridiculous. I seem to remember seeing, what looked like, a black foam rectangular insert (which might prevent the door from closing that compartment) which had 2 holes to hold drinks and looked like they'd be a big improvement. Any ideas where those or any others can be found?

Garage door opener....the Sequoia and GX both had the homelink system. The only thing that rattles, other then metal cups, is my garage door opener. Guessing this isn't hiding but wondering why you can find this on a Prius of the same vintage but not Toyota's top of the line ride.

Interior lights....Not sure if mine are burned out, but the gx has 2 lights over the gear shift area that shine down at night, just enough to see all the buttons, etc. The LC has small holes in the ceiling above the gearshift, and they'd be super helpful, hoping mine are burned out, but guessing they're only on the lx570. Any ideas?

Other then that, I love it and will be taking it to Uwharrie for the first time this weekend where I'm sure the door opener and cups will rattle more then usual.

Thanks,
Dave

I was just thinking as I was driving in this morning that my 20 oz RTIC cup (YETI knockoff) really doesn't fit well in the cupholder, I have to drive with my right hand holding it up. I've already put some tight pile carpeting in the bottom to catch the occasional drip, but the next step will be to try @Markuson 's trick of some stick-on foam around the perimeter to tighten up the base fit.

My garage door opener doesn't rattle at all. Not sure how it could, it's built into the overhead console. Are you saying your truck doesn't have Homelink? That doesn't make sense.

Swap out all your interior lighting with some good LEDs. Tons of light when you do.

My latest mini-gripe is that I love how the garage door buttons are lighted at night, but not the buttons for the map or dome lights. They did one set, but not the others?

So I posted in the 120 forum and got this link Lexus GX 470 Cup Holder Insert I'm not completely sure they're the exact same and he's out of stock currently, but looks like a simple fix

Doh, so perhaps I've been missing the homelink, guess I'm just used to it being on the visor. The rattling garage door opener is the plastic one that clips to the visor from the door opener mfg.

We went camping with some friends last month who had a 2017 suburban, the interior lights at night were WHITE, guessing they were LED, but much more useful then the warm temp lighting in the LC.
