Here's a stupid question - why does nearly everyone think the 200 is a 4Runner or Sequioa? I was getting air filters at the dealer when a guy told me he really liked the roof rack on my 4Runner, and a sales guy said it was the best looking Sequioa he's seen. Then a couple hours later another guy told me he liked my 4Runner! I get the Land Cruiser isn't all that common, but it's ridiculous how many people are completely convinced it's something else. (At least no one has called it a Highlander yet, to my face at least)

Maybe it IS a 4Runner, or at least it really wants to be. You can't assign a model to a vehicle. Only the vehicle can choose it's model. It's preferred nomenclature is model-fluid or model-non-specific until it decides what it wants. If it wants to wear Hoosiers and go to Road America it has that right! If it wants to join the military and become an APC using taxpayer money it can do that too!

Pulled a stuck Jeep out not too long ago, my wife told me one of the dudes said to her, "man that Highlander is a beast!"

I let it go...

where's the guy that wrapped his entire truck and put 8" tall letters down the side that said landcruiser, maybe we need a group buy for that.

on the way back from Breck, had a tweaker in flagstaff start asking about the truck. didn't believe me that Toyota still made land cruisers.
was a weird conversation...

Last year I saw a buddy for the first time in a while, and he asked me what I was driving because it's usually something different each time we hang out. I told him I bought a 2014 Land Cruiser, and he literally said "No. They stopped making those.". I kinda laughed and said OK, but he replied "No seriously what did you get? I know they discontinued the Land Cruiser about 10 years ago". He would not believe me until I showed him the truck and the insurance card proving it was a Land Cruiser. He's somewhat of a car guy, so I was pretty surprised at how incredulous he was.

He's right...

I cobbled together parts and beefed up this Highlander in my Garage... :hillbilly:

(Or so assumed a guy at a Breckenridge gas station Saturday morning when five monster LCs pulled in before Red Cone...!)

Did you put the spare out back so the 3rd row seating could fold flat into the floor (or does your model year Highlander already support fold-flat?) ;)

Is anyone running 34x10.5x17s on the OEM suspension? Just got an '08 and have a set of fairly new KO2s in the aforementioned size that I'd like to run.

Suspension update will wait a bit until I decide what to do with the front bumper.....hidden winch mount using ASFIR or similar, or a full on front bar.

Thanks!

Anyone have a secret for keeping the tailgate cables inside the car when the tailgate is closed? My driver side tailgate cable likes to squirm out the body gap between the closed tail gate and the body, makes for a really sloppy look, and I sure, undue ware on the cable cover.

@Markuson posted on this a while back (at least i think it was him)... he uses a magnet to keep them in place, i believe.

How about a Newbie SWOD?

New to us 2014 200, planning to take it to the lake over Labor Day weekend with the family. Will be towing with it for the first time. Unfortunately it's not here this weekend as it's getting new rear brakes and minor items fixed.

First, where the hell is the trailer wiring harness? I expected to see a plug permanently mounted near the hitch when I took the plastic cover off, but it wasn't there. Looked up under the bumper around the spare and nothing was immediately obvious.

Interestingly no google search (of which I tried many) or watching of multiple videos of people towing with a 200 noted the location.

Thanks in advance, very much looking forward to having this vehicle.

Here's where the trailer connector is supposed to be - to the right of the spare tire:

Unfortunately, it has been reported that several vehicles are delivered without the connector installed.

HTH

That is fairly obvious and where I would expect to see the connection.

So I potentially have a dilemma. I'm picking up my 200 tomorrow and leaving for the lake on Thursday. If it's not there, what's the likelihood of being able to get the parts in time to make the trip? For the cruisers that weren't delivered with the connector installed, does that mean it didn't come with all the hardware or somehow the hardware was stashed in a storage compartment and would just need connected and bolted on?

From the picture above it almost looks like it's a bracket and a cable that connects to another connection just above and too the right. So it's not a complicated piece. Or does it wire in further back than what I can see there? That may be a bit rhetorical as anyone who has it installed from the factory wouldn't know whats needed.
