Spring spacers

Still no one has mentioned the down side of going with the spacers. Sounds like a cheap solution to fit 35's (315's).
I've heard, although I can't remember from whom, that those Mr. Gasket spacers can disintegrate over time... just like any rubber part can, and even more so if you try to run 2 of them. That said, the only ones I've seen in person were on Brodis' rig, and they looked totally fine. And I think I'll join the others and order a pair today, this thread has also gotten me off the dime on this..

But I wouldn't try to run 35's with 1 set of spacers and stock springs, unless you lower the bump stops. To say what's been said a million times, just get the OME kit already, it's cheaper than a new set of tires.

been running the Mr Gasket spacers for YEARS(like 8-9), when I went to J spring up front I replaced them(with new ones), sent the old(but still good) ones off to someone else. I have NO issues with the Mr G spacers.

I think I was the one that 1st mentioned using the Mr G spacers :)

Hi all.
I only used them on the front, It did what everyone said...level out the front, I was only going to use slightly larger tires, 32-33" range.
Also, I was going to get a Slee 6" kit down the road, So I didnt want to spend alot now.
Thanks again for all the info.

Couple guys I know are using them. Only issues have been that they're smushed and starting to crack a little. One of them also mentioned something about the front axle being pushed over to the passenger side a little, dunno why.

The axles, front and rear, shift to one side as the vehicle is raised. This is due to the arc that the panhard rods travel in. Christo has adjustable panhard rods available to re-center the axles after a more-than-moderate lift has been installed.

Yeah, yeah, wouldn't be the first time I followed your lead now would it John.. fwiw, that summitracing site kicked me off twice today after I entered my card number. I called them and they have an "express line" if you already know your part number, thought that was pretty cool.

I went surfing and spent time with the family this weekend. So I did not get it done, how did it go? Did you follow the Beowulf's instructions? If you had to do it again would you do anything differently?

I didn't follow Beo's instructions, instead did about the same thing I did when I put the lift on which is a little different. Disconnected the wire clamps from the control arm (locker wire on PS, something else on DS), then disconnected the control arm at the drops, let it fall down and rest on one of those steering arms.

Then jack up the whole front end, and support the frame on jack stands, just in front of where the control arms attach, take both tires off. Then lift one side of the axle, put on the spriing compressors on the spring, then lower the axle, and the spring is loose allowing ample room to slide the gasket around the top of the spring. I know it's not necessary to use spring compressors, but for me it's easier and they rent them to you for free at Auto Zone. Also you don't need to disconnect the shocks if you use this method.

Picture of the spacer installed.. at the diameter of the spring, the spacer's circumference is about 1" smaller, so there's a gap, I chose to leave that exposed so I could see how/if it wears over time.
