Putting the motor back together for my wifes 76. Got some really cool stainless button head cap screws for the oil pan, lifter cover, timing cover, water pump, etc. and they look great, problem is I can't find a source for the fine thread ones I need like motor mounts, thermo housing and header/intake. Any one have any ideas ? I can't even find fine thread stainless in regular hex head.

iv had great luck with fastenal i go there and buy new bolts for everything i take off.

Thanks for the reply, I just checked there but either I am stupid (a good possibility) or they don't have any fine thread in stainless either. :frown:

Our Ace True Value has a very good selection of hardware (stainless and otherwise), I don't know for sure if the grade would be suitable for your application. Some of the marine stores have some good stuff too.

stainless

x 2 on ACE and Marine but our boat store does not carry metric---motorcycle shop is a good place too

In my experience, most stainless bolts are rated below grade 5. Not the best bet for motor mount bolts

Missed that. Stainless should not be used for "structural" fastening. They are fine for door hinges and general attaching, but not appropriate where your life depends on them.

Does anybody know of a source for JIS stainless fasteners?

Specifically looking for 8mm threaded nuts & bolts w/ 12mm heads.

This place is local to me, and a few blocks from Mark's Offroad :D

It is the kind of place that the guys looks at all the stuff you order and says:

How about 12 bucks?

And you know it is a steal:grinpimp: Mail order may not be the same....
