I'm looking to accomplish some wiring projects (inverter, Sequoia alternator), and need some fuse holders for 100 - 175 amps and would like to use the Cooper Bussmann fuse holder. I've been searching on the web and have found few places that carry it, and none that have it in stock. I know several MUD members have used these. Any good sources out there?

Check with your local car audio shops. Even Wal Mart has 100 AMP fuses like this in their car audio department. Another place to look is a truck stop, a lot of them sell fuses like this for use with fridges and inverters (big ones like Pilot, Flying J, etc...)

Hellroaring should have those in stock. They sold me 1 a few years ago. Just call them and don't try to use their web site as it is truly dismal but the company is good and their products are excellent.

Just curious, but what is the benefit of this older style fuse over the newer DC circuit breakers used in marine applications?

With the DC circuit breaker, you can just reset it if it trips rather than digging out a new fuse (assuming you have one and can find it).

Yeah, I got one through Mike, but at $19 a pop it's a little tough to swallow. I think I need three of them. Plus, I know that's not his business. Some of the other suppliers look promising!

I just got mine through Wrangler Power Products. You need to download the catalog to actually find them as they dont list them on the site.

Cheaper price :flipoff2:

I actually got two of the bussman style and one of the circuit breakers. Its damn cool!!!

I may just go circuit breakers all around. You would need to make sure to carry a spare fuse. My luck I would need the spare and not have it :bang:

Yeah, I should have asked "other than the cheaper price . . . "

I have two of the exact Bussman holders shown in the first pic - got them for $7 each so I figured what the hell.

I already had one Blue Sea Systems DC breaker and IIRC it cost me about $25 - and I sure like not having carry fuses.

However, the Bussman holders are 'adjustable' if I decide I need a larger fuse (or smaller) I can just buy the size I want for $3 and I'm good. If I goof on sizing the DC breaker, I'm stuck with another $25 expense AND I have to R&R the breaker. Hopefully, I planned appropriately.

Wow. Called about 5 places this morning that usually stock it, and EVERYONE is out. They all said that the part is about 2-3 weeks out also. Not sure what's up with Bussmann, might look into the Blue Sea alternative at West Marine.

I got mine here.

Check the web store link.

Yep, CCI had three of them, cheap too! Just got em in, going to install this weekend. Thanks everyone for the links!

Odd no one else had them, wondering if Bussmann is no loner producing these holders.
