Decided to spend the day working on my tan by putting a new intercooler in. Fixed a fuel leak that start a couple days.

There is shade under it making sure you have shocks and stuff. Especially on the back.

Yes there are rear shocks on it. Hell I am even to do a rear sway if I can find the metal cap that goes over the bushing on the bar.

Houston we have a problem……I have been chasing a clunking in my suspension/drivetrain for many months, finally found the culprit. After 41,000 miles my adjustable upper control arms failed. Threads stripped out completely.

Rear uppers on my 80. So out with the newish and in with the old tried and true.

This is my first year and my wife is harassing me about what to expect. since I don’t know first hand and I can’t really find much in the threads, I figured I’d ask. I’ve heard this is a fairly informal “event”. What’s to be expected on a day in day out basis? I know what to expect of the trails, meaning more what the hitting the trails in groups is like, how early people head out etc. We’re staying in the KOA fwiw.

I’ll also have my 6 year old daughter with me, what kid friendly stuff is there to do other than the given? Any thoughts would be a big help.

Last year, I woke up around 7:30-8:00, BS'd around with people and looked to see what friends were running, and usually left the KOA by 10:00 to go run trails. Usually got back around 4:00-6:00. Its reallyyyyy informal.

Expect a bunch of super nice people in the mountains on vacation that are like minded. Trailrides daily of take them shopping, eat in Ouray or any of the small towns nearby.
We will have coffee every morning until we run out. Wednesday evening is the group photo and raffle.
Other than that enjoy yourselves. Ouray has usual mainstreet shopping, restaurants and pubs. The hot springs are great after a few days camping and wheeling.
It's as busy or laid back as you make it.

Informal means, you can do trails with folks, (usually heading out around 9-ish. or you can do what you want. I bring my 10 year old daughter who has special needs. She gets bored easily, but even she has a great time. camping, campfires, tents, cooking etc. kids love it. In Silverton there is a funnel cake place ( best funnel cakes you’ll ever eat) take her there and she’ll love it. Kids love walking around the ghost towns also. It’s super laid back and you can just do whatever you feel like throughout each day. Doing trails with groups is pretty laid back also. Great time and great people.

You and your family will love it!! Consider meeting up in Amarillo with the Texas Convoy. That’s a great gathering in itself (arrive in Amarillo sometime Friday, head out Saturday a.m. and end up in Ouray on Sunday.

After many years of sketchy spare fuel hauling, the stench of trash in the back and banging the spare underneath and at times losing the room in the rear because if the spare , this happened today . It took about 4 hours to do the install. Tomorrow I’ll do hook up the lights and move the license plate. I’m going to run it like this out west, when I get back I’ll probably move the spare inboard a bit so it blocks the taillights less and reconfigure the Jerry cans mount so they are side by side north and south.

Maybe we could bring a little extra coffee for the morning communal pot. I know it's nice to converge around the headquarters and visit in the morning. If it is used fine, if not leave it for Casey to use in his shop.
