Just put a stick between your power seat and the acelerator pedal. Power seat forward accel , power back coast. Should at least get you across texas. It does not work that good in the mountains.

Can’t remember the last time I have used it. I don’t have it anymore in the 80 and never think about it when driving the wifes 4Runner. I now some people use their had throttle but that seems a bit sketchy.

Haven't had it since I did LS swap, didn't use it before either, but long drives in daily driver ('15 f450~ no cruise either) causes sciatic nerve issues, but can avoid by swapping to left foot every so often. Not enough room for that trick in the 80. Haha

It took me a while to remember it, but i believe it was High Country Cruisers

They had a 5.3 like me with some similar heating woes

High Country Cruisers has a shop in Pagosa Springs, CO. IIRC, that's where @Reznugget (SAS #2) had his FJ40 worked on to get it on the road.
