Been looking for a no sunroof/roof rack/rear wing cruiser for a bit. I was gonna get one but the guy ended up selling it out from under me after a month of trying to meet up.

Looking for as poverty spec as possible, no sunroof would be the ultimate dream but I know that’s virtually impossible, so really looking for one that doesn’t have a roof rack or rear wing. Color doesn’t matter too much but really prefer green. I can’t travel too far unfortunately but also really want to find a Cali one and is truly rust free like they are here. Also really prefer 95-97 but may work with pre 95 is it’s worth it. I know what I’m looking for is rather specific (hence the frustration in having basically my dream spec being sold after spending so long trying to buy it from a seller) but I’d figure I’d see if anyone has anything out there.

I have a 96 Black (and chrome) Special. Only offered in 1996 in limited numbers.

No factory roof rack, and the rear spoiler and wheel flares have been deleted (holes welded and professionally repainted)

Factory dark tinted.

Some of the upgrades;

New OEM factory shortblock, and everything else rebuilt with OEM parts.

ATF Racing Transmissions (OEM transmission made bomb proof).

93/94 Cloth Seats, Oak interior.

2" OME lift

Manual hubs conversion.

New burfields, seals, etc.

New ARB winch bumper (no winch).

New 17" FJ Cruiser Steelies with new Toyo Open Country RT Trails.

Modern touch screen stereo.

Was originally a California vehicle that found it's way to Texas, where it got all the work and upgrades done. It's in NW Colorado now.

Zero Rust. Unfortunately, it has a sunroof. But hey, it works and doesn't leak.

Just FYI, it's not a cheap budget worn-out fixer upper vehicle. It's like new inside and out, so the price reflects the condition.

Still searching... There is a 96 no sunroof in San Diego right if anyone is looking too. I drove 7 hours round trip to see it and while mechanically it seemed good the exterior and interior were pretty rough, much more than the seller implied talking to him and in his listing. He wouldn't budge on price so I walked away.

Not interested in ones with holes drilled into the body. It’s just about my dream spec but really trying to avoid things like snorkels because those holes will cause issues later

Good luck with your search, though I will say it’s hard to be picky when it comes to rarity.

Sometimes you have to fix things after the fact or completely restore the whole damn truck like I inadvertently did!

Yeah I have another rig till I find the right one. I don’t mind finding something of a work in progress though. The only real deal breaker for me really is when stuff is cut and drilled into lol
