so THAT'S where my front end clunk came from... (1 Viewer)

You know I'm fairly certain there are TWO washers per link.

One tween the nut and the bracket. Another tween the bracket and the link.

I remember dry fitting those parts together and forgetting to install the inside washer.
It seemed that the link fit just so nicely into the bracket opening.
Wrong.... I found the "extra" washers on the bench.

Also, for future reference, can someone tell us if the OP messed up the link by spinning the "bolt"?
I would think not, but I can barley spell so....

I do have the washer on the inside of the bracket, just missing the one on the outside. I'll run by the hardware store and see if I can get one for that nut.

Thanks for your help

I think I would start by checking the torque on all of those bushings - at the frame and at the axle. Some of them are pretty high torque.

Can anyone else look at that last pic I posted and tell me if it looks ok? Or should it be more pulled together?

For future reference, from 1997 Land Cruiser FSM
Suspension Torque Numbers, Suspension bushing torque values.
Lateral control rod, panhard, swaybar torque numbers, FSM.
Before I had the FSM i had a heck of a time sorting years of posts to get these numbers.
Hopefully it will be easier to search with this.

thanks everyone for your help. Got a washer from the hardware store and cranked it down good and tight. There really isn't any room to get a torque wrench in there AND hold the allen head - so I just sort of went by feel. Hopefully wasn't too tight.

Clunk is gone and the truck is handling nicely

That is the cleanest factory service manual I have ever seen. Mine, not so much. Glad it all worked out for you.
