So I hear the 60 series seats are a direct fit for 79-84 40 series, well what if?

So, what if you could have a replacement seat that looked factory but was more comfortable.

Here's my thought, having seat covers made in the correct 79 and up vinyl but patterned after the 60 series seats. So you would have a 60 or 62 seat installed in a 79-84 40 series covered correctly.

I already have the leather covers for the 60 series for those wanting some bling. Here ----->IH8MUD.com Forum - View Single Post - New Leather kits for the 60 and 62 series Land Cruisers. BJ60 BJ62 FJ60 FJ62

Thoughts?

I find the later 40 series seats more comfortable than the 62 series seats.

I didn't know they were interchangeable.

I've got 60 series seats in my 47. The bolt pattern on the base of the seat is the same between the 40 series and 60 series - just the seat sliders are different. The 60 seat has a longer lower cushion compared to the 40 version and there is provision for headrests (which I can't use in my 47 cab as space is very tight!), which, to my knowledge, was not so common on the 40 series seats..

Out of curiosity, for how much would you sell a set of the front seat covers only, with the heated option?

I'd love to have a 40 series replacement seat that looks factory-ish.

I prefer a factory look , but I hate putting wear and tear on the OEM stuff.....if I can help it ......FWIW

The seat track configuration changed in 4/'86 but with a little modification its doable......
