Actually, knew from the start I didn't want to put the headliner back up and been thinking about this for over two years. Didn't think it would get so involved, that's for sure. Thanks for checking it out!

Good luck with your cooling issue. I didn't have anything intelligent to add, so just watching to learn something!

Ron,

Did you make wood or paper templates for the crossbars?

I started with a straight edge across the mounts and measured up every two inches, in order the record the curve of the roof. I did that at all five mounts. With the measurements, I made poster board cutouts and trimmed to fit each spot. With the posters, I transferred to plywood and cut out two pieces for each bow and glued them together. I tried to bend the tubing over the wood buck. It didn't work! So, that's when I bought the roller.

Could've gotten by with just the poster board. I don't know how somebody smart would've done it, that's why I did it this way. :)

Can I borrow your poster boards?

Sure, might be different somewhat, because of the Monstaliner, etc. You could trim to fit yours. I've got the wood bucks, if I need to make another. How would a guy send them, fold in half or maybe stick in a long tube.

Got the roof support bolted up, still need to apply the seam sealer, it's not perfect, but the roof is curved from to back and side to side. A pain in the arse to get right.

Here's the finished dash, except the Land Cruiser tag in the middle of the dash. I want to have a new one made that just says Land Cruiser with no hole for the tail gate switch.

Now the dash has got to come out another time to redo the vent hoses and get wired. Moving on to other things, getting closer though!

Woaoooo. I was wondering what the inner structure of the roof would be in place, I just have to say "great". great concept, great realisation, great integration.
How the hell do you find such ideas ???
The negative point of your project is you have to wait loooong tu enjoy it...

Thanks fellas,

Just glad it's done. I've been stressing over it for too long.

Tatat,

Those ideas come from a dark place in my mind. I try to drown them with beer, but it doesn't work. :)

That came out looking great, Ron!

Question for the group... My new project is mounting a new power steering pump with a remote reservoir and I need to drill and tap the cast alum. bracket that holds the pump and alt. Can I drill and tap cast alum. or just drill and use a bolt and nut. Any problems doing so? I don't think I'll have a problem, but can't remember tapping cast alum.

Thanks Guys!

IMHO cast alum is weak metal. I think you cannot screw a bolt with enougth torque to secure it. Go with bolt and nut. and it is simpler.

Good point Pascal, if you look at the top picture, the two holes are tapped, but have bosses cast in.
