Wanted to add, all the parts were media blasted and cadmium plated to help with rust. I use dry silicone spray on all these different parts, so dirt and crap, doesn't stick so much to them.

Ferntucky, I'd like to hang on to it. What's your situation on handles, need one bad or just starting to look?

Abqcruiser, Now you tell me! I was hoping to at least get it done before messing up the paint, but now I can quit worrying about it. I keep thinking, I'll scratch the side with a screwdriver, walking by it. I'm pretty rough on vehicles and this one's no different.

Your body looks higher off the frame than mine.

Yes Sir, I used a 1" lift for fear of oil pan and hood clearance issues. I really think a guy could do without the lift. Lower the motor enough to clear the hood and still be alright with the oil pan. The 60 axles made the most difference, along with changing the pan to a Camaro pan.

Mine is a busted on the right side but I think I might be able to braze it. Hang onto the one you have, I'm sure I will find something.

I teach for a technical college and I'm thinking about talking to our precision machining instructors about making tailgate handles and mirror bases.......they have some pretty incredible machines and comp. programs.

In the sprit of Delancy's wooden spacer, here's my tool for holding the torsion rod, while bolting up the tail gate. Even though it's just pine and not balsa, it should suffice. I have to admit, always was a Craftsmen man, not Snap On. The cut out allowed finger room to start a bolt.

I'm counting on you to document because I have the fear of memory loss given I'm always forgetting where I laid the tool I just had in my hands a minute ago. My disassemble was years ago so there's no way that memory even still exists.

Yes, I put all the safeguards back in. I am just dumb enough to break something if I don't. When I bypassed the tailgate switch and raised the window one time I almost shot it out on the driveway. That would have been a bummer...

Here's attempt #2 at making a hot water shower system. If you missed the first attempt, you didn't miss much, a plumber's nightmare! JMack got me straightened out with the manifold idea. I still need to figure out a mounting spot, but have to wait until the glass gets in. I hauled it to the glass shop and might be a week.

Hopefully this one will work and stand up to some abuse and even if it doesn't work out, it's always fun working in the shop! Still needs to be tapped for NPT fittings.

The last eleven years at the brewery, I was the midnight shift oiler. Took care of all the lubrication needs of the plant. In case you were wondering what the OILERS meant.

I have been doing extensive reading on an onboard hot water system. The plate heat exchanger is the way to go. Your exchanger may be oversized, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. How about plumbing it into the existing pig heater hose and using the dash heater control lever to open or restrict the flow of hot coolant through the exchanger, to control water temp?

I don't have the stock heater anymore, just an aftermarket heater/ac unit and the rear heater. I didn't want to run hot water into the heaters, in the Summer, just to use the shower. This way I can isolate any one of the three.

On the size, Duda Diesel and I talked about what I wanted to do and they recommended the long 20 plate. It should heat the water in one pass.

Here's a picture of the manifold for all three lines. As soon as we figure out what type of lines, etc., I can mount any type of shut off and hose combination. Just playing with the hose barbs.

Have not built it yet. However it is getting closer to the top of the list. I got my AC installed and dual battery setup running. I hope to learn from your experience with the hot water install. It looks like you are close to an operating system. Have you thought about the shower head end of the heater? I am considering a kitchen sink pre-rinse sprayer with a thumb activated on/off lever. The hose on one of these can handle the hot water. The sprayer could also be used as designed, for washing dishes on the trail.

Chevurai, I'd like to get it to the point where I could start the motor, then finish the shower later. I haven't done much research on the shower head, but I think you're right on the kitchen sprayer.
