Hey guys, not sure where I left off, but we're in Moab tonight in a storm with flash flood warnings in town. We were on Hwy. 70 coming in and it had ice and snow on the road for miles. So, as soon as I turned off the hwy. the temp. gauge went up over 200 degrees and the volts dropped to 14, normal is over 15 volts. The temps have been 180 almost the whole trip, so something is going on and will start checking in the morning. We were going to camp tonight , but grabbed a room in town and will regroup. Let me drink a beer or two and I'll post up what pictures I have so far.

What a trip!
 
I know for you guys out west this is no big deal, but man for a midwestern this is awesome! Heading into Moab on Hwy. 70....

Alright, she was down almost a gallon of coolant and found a small leak at the upper rad. hose so, should be good to go. Charging good, back up to 15 volts, not sure what if anything is going on there. Moab is cleaning up after the flood through town yesterday, strange seeing people shoveling sand off the sidewalks. I don't know where exactly we're headed, but working our way home.

And off of Hwy 90. Everyday occurence living on the coast. I don't rockcrawl anymore but 4WD is great for the sand on the highway.

Glad to hear cooling was simple. Is it possible battery is as low as radiator?

And off of Hwy 90. Everyday occurence living on the coast. The plows here work more than they did in CO. It's still white, it just doesn't melt! I don't rockcrawl anymore but 4WD is great for the sand on the highway.

She ran great all day, 180 to 190 degrees and I'm thinking the voltage drop is due to the house battery and it running down every night keeping the frig. cold over night, like GJCruiser said. I have plenty of Winter work on the Mud Hen. Here's some pictures coming out of Moab...

Pulled off the road because of the storm we've been chasing, but tomorrow hoping to drive to Kansas. Anybody have a cool place to see along Hwy. 70 in Colorado?
 
There are a lot of great places. Rifle Mountain Park north of the town of Rifle is neat. Some places to camp. Just the drive through Glenwood canyon east of Glenwood Springs is a awe inspiring drive. There are plenty of neat and historical mountain towns closer to Denver too. Maybe I should have gone with you, we could find more good wheeling roads like we did in southern Colorado with @Gordobe.
 
Check for expected traffic delays on 70 through Glenwood Canyon this week. Slide mitigation work. You can get off at Glenwood, catch Hwy 82 and go through Aspen and over 13,000’ Independence Pass (paved) to historic Leadville and then back to 70 and into Denver. Or south to Poncha Springs (and Classic Cruisers) to catch US 50.
 
Memory Lane. In your photos of Colorado National Monument, I can see the house I sold for retirement. Climbed Independence every July 4 in support of a fundraiser for Mesa County SAR. The team trained up in the Monument almost every Thursday night. Some great memories top-roped and repelling off with the lights of GJ and Fruita below.

Couldn't begin to count the number of rescue missions up there in all kinds of weather. I lived closeby and was on what was called the "bash" team. I was what used to be called Wilderness EMT (it's OEC now). That meant I'd show up at mission command very early, leave the normal (heavy) survival SAR pack behind and RUN up to the victim to render early medical aid.
