is catalytic converters theft protection taken care of with a slee or other skid plate?

i googled this and didn’t turn up much except one in the 100 series forum.

I hate to put it this way, but anybody that would be willing to walk up to a vehicle with a 4" angle grinder and bad intent toward your cats, wouldn't even be slowed down by a skid plate. Zip Zip Zip and they are gone.
Now if they came with a hacksaw they are horribly unprepared any way, but a 20V angle grinder is a force to reckoned with.

Ive got those on my rig, a cut above them and a cut below and the cats would slide right out.

The WKOR sliders are a sweet bit of kit. The cat protection is beastly, you can pick the truck up on the skid plate.
Here's a shot of mine:

Mine are the 10 degree, needed them a little lower to the ground for my fat old a$$.
The motocross footpeg treatment is my own little special touch.

Appear to be welded. Looks pretty damn sweet. Awesome idea. Although your shins won't be the same if you miss the step.

What year is your cruiser? Many of the aftermarket sliders for 95-97 trucks have integrated cat protection. I think it would probably make the tweaker with a sawzall more inclined to walk down the block to the next 4runner in sight. 🤷‍♂️

My cats are way more likely to get bashed on the trail than stolen. I'm selecting my armor with that in mind, not theft.

They are welded, made from 1/2" angle iron on my mill.

I have "missed" and no they don't trash ones shins, the grip is on top of the curve. They are not the most comfortable things to lay on when working on wiring under the dash, but that's what yoga mats are for.
I've had them packed with red clay and they are still grippy as all heck.

Mine, custom, 3/8” plate steel sections, guarding the cats.

I’d move to the next vulnerable car before trying to cut through all that steel.

That’s what I hope for at least. Anything is eventually defeatable, just how much time is it worth to a thief.

None of this answers your question. But this is what came to my mind when I read the post:

1. I am so very glad that I live in a place where this sort of thing is just not enough of a concern to worry about.
2. I am so very glad that I live in a place where no one really cares if my cats are even still under the rig. ;)
3. I am so very glad that my cross street neighbors finally started keeping their gate closed which turns the neighborhood into a single entrance/exit location and in general the lowlifes that did in the past wander through looking have seeming learned that any loot to be had here is not worth the risk.
4. I am so very glad that everyone in my little neighborhood shares my attitude and awareness levels and willingness to confront said out of place lowlifes.
5. I am so very glad that I live in a place where if a POS tweaker IS on my property or even just in the neighborhood in the middle of the night I can accost or even detain him while armed and NOT get scolded by the troopers when they come to pick him up and make his arrest official.

To be honest I think I like #2 the best. ;)

Mark...

If your really worried about someone stealing your cats you could make up a set of removable/bolt in "test tubes" to install in place of the cats, And only reinstall the cats every few years when your smog inspection comes due, If you live where smog inspections are not required, then just do away with the cats, your problem of cat theft is then forever solved,

How do you trick the ECU, from lack of O2 scensors, so it doesn't through a code?

I posted these on a different thread but I added perforated steel to my white knuckle sliders, I also wrapped wire rope around the center of the cats so if they are cut they won't be able to be slid out.
