Don't forget to order a soft top, Lee.

I don't care to pay in full on the front end and then wait 2+ years for the top. Ask Daniel/Sully what he thinks of the OCBeetle guy's business practices.

Which reminds me, there is no backing plate for the lower spare carrier mount. The lower bracket bolts through the quarter panel and attaches directly to the sill.

I found a pic showing what you are saying.

That looks like a spy photo of my old tire carrier. Have you been hacking into my photo album again?

U-P-D-A-T-E-S?

:bounce:

Tucker

Didn't I just give you an update last night? :hhmm:

Me--Waiting on a couple of custom fabbed body panels from Real Steel. They may already be here. Haven't checked today, maybe this afternoon.

Kelly--Chillin' in Idaho and probably not thinking about rust repairs. I sure wouldn't be.

Lot's of Maharaja last night ;p I wanted some pics, guess I gotta keep waiting. Hope your trip was uneventful -

Tucker

I do seem to remember some Maharaja being poured.

Departed Austin 0300, arrived OKC at 0800, safe and sound. Nobody on the highway but me and the 18 wheelers.:steer:

Will post more pics when I get them. Hopefully there'll be something to see tomorrow. I'll ask again about your firewall too.

Ok guys. I'm back and stopped by last night, sill is in and waiting to get in the body shop for sanding, priming and painting.

Whoa, Kelly, that looks great. They were just waiting for you to leave town so they could get rollin'. ;)

Are you having the tub floor painted too?

Lee they will paint from quarter panel to quarter panel both inside and out, including the tub.

Are those hexomats? Do you like them? I need to get some mats for my 40.

Those mats are on sale at Cruiser Corps. I think MMW said he's (Cruiser Crap) a dealer for them as well.

That's coming out great, Kelly.

I bought those mats from Cruiser Corps and have been pleased, can't remember what they are called. I'm going to order the rear mat from them when I get to the finish line on this project.

Tucker

Absolutely, they say they have miles of that stuff in all kinds of widths.

Interesting to see the differences between a '77 and '82 sill.

BTW, your sill is prettier than my sill. :frown:

One would think that there are some improvements to the design in the later years. I look forward to getting them side be side to really see all the subtle differences.

As for a prettier sill, I think you've been in Oklahoma much too long.

I think you've been in Oklahoma much too long.

I'll drink to that.

Did a driveby at the body shop this afternoon. No progress to report, but the new body panels are due for delivery tomorrow. Maybe I'll have something new to show by Friday.

Spoke to the owner, who did the original WRITTEN repair estimate. He said he'd done an interim tally of my job cost and with almost half of it left, he's already upside down on labor. After seeing some of the hidden rust and crap we uncovered, I'm not surprised.
