Did you salvage the reinforcement plate for the tire carrier off of the piece of quarter panel you cut out?

It's probably still lying on the floor where I cut it out, but I don't plan to re-use that tire carrier. The new 4+ bumper has a tire carrier swingout.

Ah, forgot about that. Make sure to get a box and pick up some of those cast off pieces. I'm sure someone could use them (me). :)

Aren't there plates that also are behind there for the bottom hinges of the ambulance doors?

Edwin, unfortunately I don't know how to weld so the body shop experts have done all of it. I've done about half the cutting and grinding. I would have done it all but haven't had a lot of time because of a family illness. All that's left is the outer rockers and I won't have time to do any of that.

Hang in there Lee, you've got my thoughts and prayers. Not talking about the Cruiser.

Thank you Kelly. Keep it up with the prayers. Not the best of times here, but we've had lots of moral support coming from the Austin Cruiser community. Much appreciated by me and my family.

I think we will go with the mirror on the roof first, paneling and plush velour next.

Done yesterday.

Now we're talking, that is looking great! I'm still waiting for my sill from CCOT, I think they have it set up for delivery on the last space shuttle. :bang:

Lee that looks good. we just got the '81 in primer last night. wise we had been taken pics but from the strat. oh well.

Thanks Edwin. I've been fortunate to be at the body shop every day since the rebuild started, so photos were easy.

It's not too late for you to start taking pics of the '81. Just do it.

Here's another shot from yesterday. We (they) still have to replace the DS fender, outer rockers, and repair the apron, hood, bib and WS frame. I think we're somewhere around halfway done, probably looking at another month.

Has the shuttle landed?

Forecast called for high winds so it's delayed to Wednesday in Austin, but I've heard this before. Sad thing is I leave Friday for 10 days up north and the sill will probably come in and I will miss watching the progress.

I have finished my work on the inside parts so I'm ready to put it all back together when I get back.

Those guys are proud of their craftsmanship. I'm sure they'd take progress photos for you on request. Not the same as being there, but at least you'd be able to document the rebuild. Or tell them to hold off until you're back in town to supervise their work. ;)

Yea I know they will shoot photos, it just be nice to see how they do what they do.

Well I'm also gonna be at a standstill for the next week or so. Will have to order a pair of lower cowl patches from Real Steel. My cowls aren't rusted but the PO cut 2" off the bottom and I'm restoring it to stock configuration. It's always something.
