Thats why he said he wanted 1/4 inch steel:bang:. He thinks he can beat that 1000 pound bolder this time!:steer:

Here's the front bumper I built about 2 years ago...has held up really well - only thing is I have to keep painting the Herculiner coating - it fades pretty bad being out in the sun.

Here's a few other closer photos....the winch mount is on 1" square...bolted to the top of the frame rails with grade 8 hardware. That way the winch puts the load right onto the frame...not thru the bumper. The bumper displaces the load - from using the shackle points directly in line with the frame.

I'm pleased with the build....but I'll cut it shorter once I get some time to myself in the garage :)

Brand new factory original chrome bumper from Toyota spare parts, and some tow hooks from a Jeep for off road recovery.

Here's mine I built a few mos. back...
Since I did FJ60 axles f/r and had to outboard the springs, I had to improvise on the bumper mounting. 4 5/8 in bolts. Im planning on doing the MT stinger/ rad. hoop to allow for more support over all.

Not many prius' here but I'll keep an eye out...the bar was originally design for 'mustering' or 'rounding up cattle' here in Central Australia....it keeps 'roos off the side too!

Slightly off topic, but that's exactly what I'm doing to my LX. Do you have any shots of how you did the shackles?

On topic - Pumpkin Troopy: save the polishing compound and drop it off at the aluminium recyclers. I had the same one and I got $25 for mine.:grinpimp:

Cheers,

Josh

This is my 8274 bumper in progress. What do you guys think of the light bar angle? It is set to get the lights I have behind it. It looks a little far forward to me, maybe I need some smaller lights. I have some smaller bars bent to go from the ends of the bumper to the outside of the light bar. Just looking for a little feedback before I weld it all solid.
