super bumper

my Fj was used for construction in the 70's, and was rarely driven, or sat ever since. Or at least that's what i'm told
I got a cool bumper out of it

I looked at many, many FJ40's before I bought my black one, I came across this one that has to have the ugliest bumper I have ever seen on it (I am pretty certain that this cruiser can be bought cheap, send me a PM if you want their phone # (Broken Arrow, Okla))

Here's mine. It was crafted by Butch Lewis from Napa -- the ears on the front are for a tow bar when I flat tow it.

One of the details that Butch added to this bumper were the guards for the fairlead and for the winch motor case

I've landed hard on each of those plates, and I still have the original roller fairlead.

The bumper is part of the structural improvements made during the power steering install. The bumper takes the load off of the cross member that is drilled out for the box install. Here you can see the frame stiffener plates, and the bumper flange mount plates

Here is my front.

When I do it again I won't make it as wide.
I built the rear to match with the tire carrier.

thats the one i'm looking for!!!!!! if any has one in their shed, please let me know!!!

The bumper on the :pig: is an 'ol Conn Ferr unit, designed for a 40, cut down to fit. I trimmed the ends & added shackle brackets thru to the frame. On the 40, it's just a 2 X 4 3/16" wall bumper w/ cut outs for shackle brackets thru to the frame. Both are designed to use 8274's:

I posted earlier with the same brush guard, have had several enquiries about it. I love this guard, wish someone would, could reproduce it! :hhmm:

In progress

Son just built this for his High School Tech Diploma in welding. This is a test fit. Cell phone pic.
