It strikes me that it's kind of a pain in the ass to not be able to see them at night. Without pulling my dash apart again, can anyone tell me if there's a lightbulb behind the panel or something that I'm missing?

Thanks.

Yes, there is a light bulb. You can pull off the center section (there are no screws) and there is a small bulb in the housing. You do NOT need to pull off the whole dash panel.

I have the same issue. To clarify; Does just the AC button light up? Or should the whole HVAC assembly light up?

There is a backlight for the whole assembly.

Only the A/C button itself. There are other bulbs that backlight the controls whenever you have your lights on.

To clarify: At night I should be able to see the whole HVAC assembly without having to fiddle in the dark like I do now guessing what level does what at the different positions.

Yes the whole cluster is (or should be if your bulb is not burnt out) illuminated.

This is a timely thread. Like gordon's, my HVAC display is dark. My AC button does light up, though.

Does anyone know is there only one bulb? Or more?

yep, my ac button is a shining blue beacon. But the rest is dark as hades. I'll open it up and find the bulb. I've never taken the dash apart without unscrewing it - not sure I follow that line. But it's easy enough to unscrew, so I'll poke around.

Much appreciated.

Re-read the thread. There is no need to poke around or unscrew anything. Just pull gently on th HVAC/Settings piece that runs between the levers. It just unclips and there is one bulb in there. It has nothing to do with the blue HVAC on button.

Good to know guys. I figured the whole dash needed to get pulled so I've just played the "guess which lever I'm moving" game since the center of my dash got darker last year.... Time to fix it... now if I had only connected the oil pressure wire correctly..... hhmmmm I'd have a fully functional dashboard!

I don't have time to fix the bulb behind the HVAC controls anytime soon. When someone does it can they take a pic and post it? I'd like to see the piece that comes off and where. No need to post it quick, whenever convenience comes around and you guys get it done. I'll do the same if I get it done first.

It only takes about 1 minute to change the bulb.

Pic 1: Dash HVAC Panel in place (to remove you just pull the panel off, use slight pressure there are plastic clips)
Pic 2: light difuser
Pic 3: bulb

Does anyone have a part number for that little hvac bulb? I’m missing the bulb so I have nothing to reference.
