I’m installing 80mil sound deadener and 150mil insulation foam, should I remove the foam material from the underside of the factory carpet to accommodate the added material and avoid bulging or leave it be?

I'd say yes, because when you put back the carpet, the inside trim pieces may not fit depending on how much sound deadener you put down.

Ask me how I know? I later removed it in some places.

I have installed both the 80 mil sound deadening and the 150 mil foam. They are not much of a problem. It was when I put the mass load vinyl that really thicken things up. The vinyl is the most effective piece of the sound deadening. So it was worth the money and hassle to put in.

You will have problems putting in your trim pieces.

So far so good, waiting for my second batch of material to finish out the front, then carpet will go back in.

Then onto to doors and pillars
