I finally got myself some shop time and feel like it’s time to officially introduce ShortE

If you are following along in my current 75 build you have already seen pictures of this one. They rode across the pond the long way.

The first page of this thread will let you know the odyssey this thing took to get here.

We took my 200 and a trailer down with these 285/75-16 Yokohamas on Smooth Vintique wheels. While I was strapping the 75 to the trailer my buddy Jerry stuck the tires on.

I jumped behind the wheel and we took off back to Mississippi.

183,000 kms. This one was a Saudi .gov truck. If you look closely at the driver door you can see the ghost of the sticker it wore.

@Meshal can chime in with some details but the truck has some hail damage. He replaces the hood with a new one and added some gaskets and seals.

It brought me all the way home at 75 mph and recorded a respectable 15 mpg.

Hardtop. You are getting soft as you approach 60.

Nothing I hate worse than having my ass blown all around with a topless vehicle.

Cold AC and a hardtop all day for me

Last weekend it was raining like crazy so my and my buddy that I built his Saudi 75 for here local went mud riding.

@jomelo called and asked how I liked it.

This is the video I made him while we were hauling ass down a potholed Mississippi backroad

4wd. Mud. Water.

Good day. I like.

So today I got the 75 out to the tint shop and then the stereo shop so I have a few days to bolt on all the stuff I’ve been collecting for ShortE

This thing sat pretty level on the stock springs.

Measurements to the under fender were 35” front and 36” rear.

All of the bushings were shot.

This s*** design is probably why they were never replaced. You can’t remove the rear shackles without destroying them or dropping the fuel tank

I chose to destroy

I got the rear Dobinsons IMS installed tonight.

Rear only. Went up 3”. I expect after the front is installed that will settle to 2-2.5”

Stay tuned

Congrats on a beautiful specimen!

Yup, only later on (around 2009) did Toy notice the flaw and stuck the shackle in from the outside. Pin size was upgraded also around 2012 or so to do away with the dinky earlier size.

Dobinsons IMS done.

Pre lift it was 36” to the bottom of the fender all around. Now it’s 39” and nice and level front to back. Side to side.
4* shims added

I’ll get outside photos later but I want to keep it on the lift and do the fluids this afternoon.

My tag came in! Thats fun to do with no title. But it worked.

I got the monster battery installed. It had some janky stuff happening at the positive terminal so I got that cleaned up.

Got the earl changed. I needed the chain remover again.

Off to get parts

Did you add front and rear shims? They should have the thinner part forward and the thicker end towards the rear?

I add them to all 40/45/55/60/70

Front only for caster correction. You do not want the negative caster you will get with a lift.

You only get +1* on all those vehicles in stock form. Adding some positive caster is really a good thing for a leaf spring vehicle.
