Howdy! No, I'm not replacing the Piggy, but I may eventually sell off the 85 mini truck. Long story short, I am seriously looking for one. Prefer low mileage, locked, and in mint condition, but that's a little hard to find. Setup for wheeling/expedition would be a big plus, but not necessary. How hard it is to repair/replace worn/torn upholstry on the front seats? What does a Cel P401 mean? Any of you experts want to go window shopping with me. There is a clean 94 in Vegas with only 28000 miles, but the price is a bit steep. Come on friends and neighbors, find me the perfect rig. John

Easy, take it to the upholstery shop!:hillbilly: There is also a kit available to replace the leather.

What does a Cel P401 mean?

P0401 is an OBD2, "95 and later, EGR code, can be defeated relatively easily or can be a pain to correctly repair.

Your other brother John has a black LX that he hates, maybe he is ready to give it up?:hillbilly:

You too???:D

I've been shopping ever since I spent some time in Alvin's rig. But just looking in the windows for now. John, best of luck, I hope you land a good one.

I wouldn't want that one, knowing all the s*** I'd have to fix/replace. :hillbilly:

I know of at least a half dozen people that are looking for an 80 series. Seems like the demand is going up - maybe just locally in our club or I wonder if it is more widespread than that. Maybe in a couple more year the value of these things will go back up to to 2007 levels?

Like someone mentioned in a previous thread, the value may end up circling back around eventually where they are collectors items like the current 40 series are. A clean one can go for quite a bit - especially is restored stock or modded like LCPhils and others.

I need to win the dam lottery and get a 8 car garage for all the toys

My guess is yes. They are the last, arguably the best of the straight axle LC breed. They were imported in relatively small numbers, so at some point they will likely become very desirable among fanatics.

Is that a good price for a locked 97 40th ann?

About 18 months ago I paid $6,800 for a locked lx450 with 135000 miles. It was local, so I was able to drive it and look it over.

This cruiser is out of state, has 160,000 miles, and not a west coast vehicle.

If I was looking to spend this kinda money, I would want a rig that 1) had a lot fewer miles 2) was built, front bumper, back bumper, some sliders 3)a model 100 or lx-470.

Someone just posted a nice 100 for $14,000 on the board. Maintained at Camelback Toyota, which means our friend Murf was taking care of it. Only has 108,000. No solid front axel, but you do get a v-8 and rear airconditioning. Local sale.

My next LC is hopefully a 100 Series. My wife likes them a lot also. She hates the 80.

My LX450 is for sale...kind of...I have to decide how much I'm willing to let it go for. I bought it for $12,200 and have about $14K in mods in it.

It was a HUGE mistake for us to sell the '93 (which I hated due to cloth and non-adjustable seats) and turn around and buy another 80. HUGE! I should have bought another new or lightly used 100, swapped bits from my 2001 to the new 100 and then beat the BEEP out of my 2001, cut it's frames, fab bumps, etc.

Crap, I don't know what I'd take for the '97. It is a beast with massive ground clearance, gears, it's shortened by about a foot. I've rebuilt everything in it after we bought it. Vibes are gone with dual CV shafts...well greatly reduced. At 7+" lift and unloaded with heavy springs Slee told me I'll not have a smooooth Cruiser.

I wonder what I could get for it?

I just went back and reviewed the trails I've used the LX450 on over the past 3-years. Almost none (compared to the 100). Almost all trips were through the Gap which I'm totally tired of! A couple on Sutherland. One or two others.

Ya, this thing need to go. I don't need to keep an 80 around for the Gap when a 100 does the Step just as easily. Gonna sell.
