I have used it. Very useful info for vehicles that are built by manufacturers with no QA.

Now I actually use Mitchell's On-Demand Heavy Duty.
Plus, the manufacturers send us TSB notices, since we're a fleet anyway. :)

i picked up a "copy" of mitchell on demand off ebay about a year ago. the software has a few glichts, last time i tried to use it i got an error saying the software is 16bit and my computer is using 32bit and blah blah. still working on that problem. i do not know if the last xp update reset something or is overriding something, i dont know

like dodge, they have some long pages there.

Yeah. That'll happen.
We don't have anything smaller than 1/2 ton pickups. Domestic only. Got import for our Isuzu
and Mitsu cabovers, tho.
Of course, all this comes with factory tech support, so any errors we get will be fixed.

I have an 84 cruiser how do I tell wether the fuel tank has been replaced with a newer design? Also do they (Toyota) still honor this many years if it has not been replaced?

pathfinder: to my understanding, land cruiseres with updated fuel tanks get a special sticker or metal tag in the engine bay.

I have a question of my own. Does my !983 FJ60 qualify for the fuel tank and seat belt recalls? I called my local toyota dealer today and they told me that my land cruiser didnt have any recalls in the database. I thought it was total BS because my rear seatbelts dont work and all of the fuel tanks of those years have the same design.

What can I do???

I think the recall my have been just a US thing (all the government rules and stuff).

Toyota replaced my fuel tank and fuel sending unit since they broke it doing the swap. Pretty good deal if you can get it done. And because PR is a us territory do the same rules apply?

I don't know if the question was quite answered. Will Toyota still honor the recall on my 84 fj60 after so many years and that I'm not the orig owner? Or does that not matter? What does the badge look like if the tank had been replaced?

Thanks,

I know a guy that buys junk 60s just for the fuel tank recall, that is if they haven't been done. Just picked one up from a dealer yesterday. It was funny to read the computer print-out on the condition of the vehicle, since it was taken there on a trailer and it had no motor. The print-out also stated a charge back to Toyota for $1400.00 for the repair:eek: It's a money maker for someone that can pull this off, being he will sell the tank for 750.00, the motor went for 1200.00 and still has the remainder to part-out, and he bought the truck for 800.00 in the beginning. To determine if yours qualifies just contact a dealer and give them the VIN# Also another note- the seat belt issue is no longer honored because the belts are obsolete and there are no more in stock:frown:

Thats good to know. My seat belts have the guides so I believe that was taken care of however I am begining to think the fuel tank has not been done. I'll call toyota and let you all know what I find out.

Ok just got off the phone with toyota and I gave them my VIN and the were able to pull it up. Both the fuel tank and seatbelts were done in Colorado by the PO back in 1994. So glad to know that I will not explode into a ball of flames bad because its always nice to get new stuff on my cruiser expecially for free!! :D
