Transfer case gaskets — use plain, toss or make a sandwich?

In the process of reassembling transfer case and was wondering about using RTV on both sides of paper gaskets or using gaskets plain or just using FIPG or Right Stuff and no paper gasket. Some videos I’ve seen seem to be using red RTV but was wondering if there are newer approaches.

Only rebuilt my own, and used Permatex aviation #3 per @cruisermatt. Highly recommend, but remember to use just enough to thinly coat the gasket. Any excess gets squeezed out and makes drips

Silicone is great, it fills and imperfections in the Case.

When I personally did the rebuild, I bought new gaskets and used RTV on both sides. - just Remember don’t torque it down all the way, you have to let the RTV set up.

Right stuff is great, but it’s expensive, however I believe it only take 5mins to set - so good if you are in a hurry. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

Next time I do it, I’ll use high tack. Works really Damn well - less messy easier to use, and helps adhere and seal.
