My 40 shows up next week. It has the full meal deal chrome option, and while normally not a fan of chrome, on this truck it "works" for me because of the side etching and chrome options. Kind of all ties together. That said, I purchased a set of OEM chrome wheels and good condition tires (well, 4 of the 5) locally for a great price, and have found two reputable shops to powdercoat them RAL 9010. Tire dismount and remount at home. Not counting my time it'll be about $700 USD total to have a second wheelset in white. Not chump change for me.
But I wanted to get opinions from those who have either wheel and/or went down the rabbit hole of going through the time and expense of a different wheelset. FWIW, I plan to keep the factory original chrome wheels (this Saudi spec LX was ordered as-is) should I plan to sell down the road, and stay 15" no matter what. My spare set came with 235/75 (if I remember correctly) and the incoming chrome have BF Goodrich AT 31x10.5
In your opinion do you think the white top + chrome everything looks better or would you go with white wheels on this black/chrome truck?
If I run the chrome wheels the BF lettering would go out because to my eyes the white letter "connects" with the white top.
If I run the white wheels with either tire the lettering would go inside.
Sorry for the rambling. Just getting excited after speaking with the local powder coaters. Attached pics show direct sunlight and indoor shade if it helps with anyone's opinion. Thanks!
