I also used plain CO2 for awhile and it worked fine.

Check with your local welding supply but mine will exchange bottles size for size..
So you could buy one of these oxygen bottles and exchange it for a CO2/argon of the same size for $100.00...
This is pretty great, I have seen quite a few bottles for the same price with Helium or Oxygen. I will call Airgas and see how they do exchanges.

If you buy a used bottle, make sure it isn't a rental bottle. You can tell by the collar on the neck.....this post shows an owned bottle in the first photo, and a leased bottle in the second photo. The collar on the second bottle is the tell, it usually has the name of the company on the collar. Suppliers are NOT supposed to fill/exchange tanks with collars showing that they don't belong to them....they may still do so, but its not worth the hassle IMO.

Mostly true to 100% true depending on the store and or the employee you are dealing with at that moment...
The store has the option of having you sign an affidavit self-certifying that you are the owner of the bottle and I've had to do that when I relocated to Idaho.
In my case now the store I delt with for ever sold to a bigger nation wide store and they only have bottles with their collars on them now and that's what you get whether you own or rent, the bar tag tells them your status when you return it plus my account is set-up with customer owned bottles. When I asked them how I would be able to sell them if I wanted they said they would get me a receipt with the bottle bar code and the new owner could have it filled anywhere they wanted..
Like @EWheeler said it's always best to check with the store you plan to use and confirm their policy before you buy a used bottle...

I've completely embraced the booger @bobm ...

I made a holder for green rod holders!

No, I haven’t. Thought about using it when I was working on the ‘Y’ pipe, but just continued pumping the foot pedal. Something to get some practice at though. Maybe on some sheetmetal patch panels coming up soon. Want to switch to the next size smaller tungsten and filler under 1/16” for 18/20ga.

So I was reading about it here and that got me interested enough to spend the time to try it on some stainless tube.

Then I watched this video and spent a little more time with the pulse on some mild steel.

Then I remembered seeing this video awhile back and went back and watched it again, now I need to wait for my new chiller to show up and try this on aluminum.

Going to be fun trying something new..

It's hard being green! Embrace the booger! :) I've owned my tanks over 30 years and if or when I sell the company will give my money back. Every five years they charge me $25 a bottle to offset the governments safety checks?

Yup, I welded with a TIG exactly once many years ago, I’d love to learn it once I retire.
Halfway through that second video watching the pro weld up that V10 block. I don't know squat about welding and this stuff is blowing my mind.
