Well I finally got around to installing the Scangauge II. I picked it up from AutoZone for about $150.00. Installation was very easy. I disconnected the OBDII port and "relocated" it to just about he fuse block. This way, I can keep the factory look of the fuse cover. This thing is awesome! It is very comforting knowing you are only a button away from REALLY understanding WT, VLTage, and other crittcal engine stats. My truck's WT runs between 184-190 most of the time. Pictures below.

I mounted mine and the wife's in the same spot. It's definitely nice to know exactly how hot the vehicle is running. I wouldn't have known my '97's radiator was clogged w/o a Scangauge. Now w/ a new OEM radiator my WT runs 177-181*.

Have had mine installed in the same location for about 2 years.

Worth every penny!

I should have mine here in a week .. what parameters do you have to enter to get the correct readings from the gauge for the 80 series/LX?? Fuel tank displacement? etc.

Honestly, I have not yet done the configuration as of yet. I need to get the speedo correction gear from Slee so my MPG will be a little more accurate.

I just plugged it in and set the displays to the the critical items, such as water temp and volage. Oh yeah... the awesome green color that matches my instruments.

Agreed .. the only info I need is the critical info. I don't need a gauge to tell me how crappy my gas mileage is!! :crybaby:

It's easy to setup, just follow the instructions in the manual, and you will have all the standard gauge/readings. There are a few specific ones you can add/program, they are listed on the xgauge website.

As far as mounting the OBD port, I removed the OBD port, then put a nylon spacer on the top screw, between the dash plastic and the fuse box, this moves the fusebox back into the dash a fraction of an inch, and allows the the OBD port to then be rotated 90 degrees and screwed back in. If you don't have a spacer, you can just loosen that screw. Then the fuse cover will fit like stock, and everything looks like it is "factory".

Same here (https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/268908-idea-obd-plug-scan-gauge.html). I was a bit worried when I went for the an inspection, but the guy seemed to have no problem plug his meter in.

I mounted above the rear view mirror.
Initially had it on the steering wheel cover like yours but the glare on the windshield at night bothered me.

Nice work, you'll love having that info. I find mine is quite addicting.

So has anyone figured out how to get the AT temp reading or is that info. available pretty much from the get-go?

Sorry if I'm way off, but I seem to recall people wanting to have it, but not yet getting it.

I guess we can always get an aux. sensor/meter running to it, but it would be so much nicer to have all-in-one unit!

^ as far as I know there still isnt one.

And you do know you can adjust the mph on the scan gauge to account for larger tires.

I didn't think this comment was directed at me, but yeah, I was aware of it! ;)

It's a bummer that we can't get the AT temp info to come up.

Is it something that Scangauge has to provide us with or something that one of our resident computer/diagnostic nerds can whip out? (I'm think it's either former though...)

I don't believe anyone has found the code to get the tranny temp for the 80 series. I tried a few codes from other Toyotas that I harvested of the web, no joy. Unfortunately you can't get the ScangaugeII to read an aftermarket sensor, because it just receives info from the ECU/OBDII.

Ben,

Bummer...

Yeah, I was certain that the Scangauge would not work with aftermarket sensors/gauges. I was going to install an aftermarket unit/meter just to monitor the AT temp, if I felt the need.

But I guess we can always hope, right, fellas? :hillbilly:

Engine Oil Temp and/or Pressure?

Anyone get these parameters programmed in? I didn't see them at the XGauge site... :frown:

I don't think there is an oil temp sender. Hadn't thought about oil pressure...
