I am looking for the power steering pump bracket set up for this engine.
The iron heads are from a 68-69 corvette engine that have no holes to bolt anything. I was told to use either the water pumb holes or the manifold. Does anyone have a part # or a picture of the brackets you are currently using? Thanks in advance for any help.

I bought one from summit racing and it is so much easier to mount and clean looking compared to any GM stock piece. It bolts to the water pump bracket and the block- no head or manifold worries. I can't figure out how to attach a link, but it is summit brand and it's $119.00.

You will have a problem with the front cradle motor mount. That vertical flange is where the pump has to set. I had to change to a side motor mount to put in power steering.

I was thinking that the cradle is on the way. I wonder what would be easier, modify/cut and weld the bracket that is available on ebay $45.00 or to use the side motor mount. By the way, do you know who sells it? Would it fit the cradle? If you have a part # would be great or a pic just to see how it fits. Does the pump fits on the same location as the the picture?

Thanks guys for the help.

Who makes that cradle anyways??? May be they already have a bracket for it.

+1 on this.
I don't think the short or long pump stock Chevy brackets will get along with that engine mount.

The aftermarket options in the link above may be the only answer I think.

That cradle was offered about 30 yrs ago by Downey offroad, and maybe AA. Don't think anyone makes it any longer. I have one sitting in my scrap pile if anyone is interested.

You will also have to use a 2 groove pulley on the crank for the PS belt. If you use the front pulley for the PS belt, you may be able to put a small space between the cradle and the PS bracket to line the belt up with the crank and pump. That may get enough clearance between the pump and cradle. the tensioner bracket will have to be modified

Switch to the Advance Adaptors motor mounts for SBC.

I think you will have to go aftermarket and change your motor mounts as outher noted. The "good" GM brackets generally used the bosess in the cylinder head as I recall and some as I remember also used the drivers side exhaust manifold. If you use your current brackets as in teh pics...you'll have to go aftermarket as I don't think anything else would work. Does the alt mount up in that bracket that is near the driver side cylinder head?

You could go crazy and get a set of different heads that had the bracket bosses.

he could but i bet he is wanting to use those closed chamber camel hump heads .:grinpimp:

Good eye! :D

Alex, my 327 has that power steering bracket that you show in the pic, but has the side mounted motor mounts. I don't see how your front cradle mount could work with that power steering bracket. I can take a pic of mine if it would help at all.
Brian.

Brian,

A pic will give me a better idea of what I need to do. Thanks.
Yes I want to keep my camel hump heads if possible. I might even modify that craddle or change motor mounts. I just order the brackets and will try to figure if I can some how make them work. This was suppose to be a budget P/S LOL...

There is really no option to buy a solution for it. It seems like I have to fab something and keep an eye on where the pulleys will end up.

I had some very complicated p/s pump bracket on my 65 327 that was in my LV. It was pretty specific to a no-reservoir high volume Howe pump. When I went to put it in my SWB 45 I did some research. I decided to put a set of Vortec heads on it for better flow, more hp, and drilled bosses that will fit a serp system I wanted to use. I can sell my double hump heads to someone who wants to do something period with a set of 45 year old, poorly flowing heads. In fact, I used a later 350 block with bigger bearings, 4 bolt mains and more torque so I can sell the 65 327 all together.

There are folks who want those motors. Sell it to those guys and get something that works better for cheaper.

heya' Alex, I'll take a few pics for you in the morning.

there are high performance GM heads with the bolt holes ...(from the old school)...early 70's corvette 350 engine. I ran a set on a z-28 "hot-rod" I use to have, it had small double humps, straight plugs, large valves. I would probally buy something like the DART iron eagle head at present time. I relaize that would cost a good bit more $$.

I don't know what will work with p/s and that front engine mount.

Aww man, it sure is leaky and dirty, but here are the pics...
Looks like I have a bit of an oil leak to address
