I recently purchased a 1979 fj43 with bench seats, driver seat 1/3 passenger seat 2/3. The passenger seat seems to be cobbled together with four thin screws with nuts as spacers and attached to the sheet metal that covers the gas tank. the problem is that the sheet metal around the gas tank is not really secured to the floor and so the seat can rattle/lift the sheet metal. The other thing is that I can not move the seat all the way back because it hits the plastic seat belt rewind bundle and also this big steel thing semi mounted to cover the gas tank filler tube. Does any one have a pic of what the under the seat brackets would look like as well as to where they would connect? I have seen used brackets on some of the forum vendors websites but can't see how they would connect to make them strong. I do have a welded threaded bolt near the transfer case shifter knob which I would assume would take one bracket, but where to connect to in back of seat? also I don't see any other mounting nuts on the side closer to the door. Because of this I have held off ordering the bracket as I am not sure it would be the right one or would connect to any thing secure. thanks also is there some other steel covering that is supposed to go over the gas filler tube?

with your 3 recent posts, I'm guessing your rig came from central America.
lots of sketchy stuff done there.
pics are needed.
there is a subframe that goes over the gas tank shield, but being it is a bench versus the buckets that the US got, I'm not certain they would work.
unless the rig was built before Jan 1979, it is a 1979 but a holdover of the 1978.
a true 1979 has the gas tank under the body
the gas tank shield should be bolted to the body as that is what holds the gas tank in place
