The seam sealer was this: PRO FORM - Products
I had the tube open from another project a few weeks ago. Laid it in from the tube and with a nitrile glove on, smoothed it with my finger. The masking tape (and pulling it off as soon as you’ve run your finger through) is key to keeping it crisp looking.

Good advice here! This is on my "to-do" list. Is one tube enough for this job?

Back in the early winter I blew the brake hardline to the left caliper. I assumed it was rusted out. It was actually just fatigued from being hamfisted by whoever did the brakes last and the 90 degree fitting on the backing plate was also stripped. I simplified the system with the 74-79 Corolla brake hose I’ve seen referenced here. This is what that looks like - no contact anywhere lock to lock:

Here’s the hose part number. I got this for $18. Made in Italy:

Spent some time tonite letting it run and idle. I stuck a coolant funnel on it and blasted the heaters (rear is still plumbed in and working in this one) that got a few bubbles out.

It starts right up on choke and eventually idles around 700rpm or so, but the idle is rough - lots of pops and sputtering. When I shut it down the carb fan kicked on, I hadn’t noticed that before.

It’s got a gutted smog pump, the air rail is gone, and the exhaust has been replaced and no longer has the air pump connection. The rest of the smog stuff is intact. I’ve yet to go over the vacuum hose routing, but I’m sure it needs work.

I’m going to work on the tune up this week. Ideally I’d like to smooth out the idle.

Anyone who wants to analyze and offer up vacuum hose suggestions feel free:

One of the things I like about this truck is the removed washer system and welded up valence.

FWIW , pre ‘85 did not have headlight washers. Your valence is stock.

Yes, I was corrected earlier. I had only ever seen post 85 with and pre 85 without. I made the incorrect assumption that it was one of the myriad of changes made at that juncture. Maybe an option the whole time? My 12/81 built truck doesn’t have it, the valence is clean, no washer bottle or hoses. But then again, it also doesn’t have a 4wd light or choke light on the dash either.

In buying a full set of doors I ended up with spare interior pieces and trim. I see lots of requests for door cards in part out threads, but posted on their own, no interest. Granted these aren’t mint. I previously tried to give the complete headlight washer setup away, and after months of no replies tossed it, closed my posting here and had a guy upset I ditched it.

Sort of a last ditch effort, but I don’t like clutter and am ready to send these to the dump.

I also have the window scrapers with stainless trim if anyone needs those.

I had it out in the orchard today. The roof patch is welded in and the gutters are done. I sprayed the gutters and patch with Krylon “river rock”. Pretty close match.

I think I’m going to list it for sale.

I really don’t need two. I’m spending my land cruiser time working on it, when I should be wrenching on my 87.
Grasping that realization is wise but having that spare is like a fortune in parts.

Despite this. I spent some time yesterday morning sorting out vacuum lines. I put a few feet of new rubber in, replacing anything split. There were open ports on the carb, direct vacuum to the EGR... lots of stuff routed incorrectly. I haven’t tested any of the components yet, but at least it’s routed properly now based on the 2F Emission book.

Someone prior to me removed the linkage for the A/C idle up. I’ve now removed the vac lines and plugged the vacuum port for it.

Against the better suggestions of people here, I went ahead and sold it to a young guy who told me he wanted to do an engine swap. He came with his dad, they spent an hour going over it, we took it for a boot around some local roads and few orchards.

I took a deposit, held it for 2 weeks and they came back and hauled it home. I thought this would be the last I’d see of it as is:

But after they left they immediately posted it for sale online for a bit more than I sold it to them for. Oh well. I just hope it doesn’t end up cut up and parted out.

How much did you sell it for? Always frustrating to read about sales where people play at finding their dream vehicle and then go resale it. Though in your case it sounds like maybe mom wasn’t thrilled to see it come home and put her foot down.

I bought it very cheap and sold it for more. I have no problem if the new owner wants to try to flip it, but I suspect you’re along the correct lines with what happened. I remember buying my first car and having pangs of regret over how much money I’d spent... and that wasn’t for a 40 year old beater with a shredded interior and rattle can paint job.
