For sale is my ‘87 LJ70 Land Cruiser with 332,197 kilometers (206k miles) on the clock.
The truck is powered by a healthy 2L-T turbo diesel that generates plenty of power and low end torque.
The truck was imported from Croatia in 2019 by the previous owner. It has since been properly titled and registered in California as a diesel vehicle and is thus exempt from smog requirements.
During my 18 months of ownership, I have religiously changed the oil every 3,000 miles with 15w40 Rotella diesel for diesel engines.
Positives:
Imperfections:
I am hoping to get 20k for this great little Land Cruiser. It’s turn key and ready to enjoy! I’ve had about a dozen Land Cruisers and this one certainly gets a lot of head turns and thumbs up from passers by. Good opportunity to drive the legendary Toyota 70 Series that the rest of the world gets to enjoy, but the US has been deprived of!
The only reason I am selling is because I want to build another Land Cruiser.
I am only interested in trades for other 70 series Land Cruiser (troopies, utes or fire trucks) or clean 40s/45s.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions and thanks for reading.

Positives:
- Starts immediately, even during cold ambient temps
- Healthy glow plug system
- Minimal blowby
- Straight, dent free body panels
- Good, crack free glass
- Good, crack free dash panels and interior
- Upgraded power bucket seats up front
- Smooth 5 speed transmission
- Fully functional 4WD system with low range transfer case
- Tight steering, with recently rebuilt power steering pump
- Responsive brakes
- Fresh mud terrain tires and stock 70 series rims
- Reupholstered rear jump seats
- HD rubber mat for rear cargo area
- Magnaflow exhaust with throaty (but subdued) sound
- Upgraded LED headlights
- Nice front and rear bar work
- Coil suspension for smooth ride with great articulation
- Solid axles front and rear for legendary off road performance
- Croatian front license plate for unique aesthetic (will include second CA plate for front, too)
- Bright, LED light bar mounted on front bumper with dedicated switch on dash
- Water pump and timing belt replaced in last year
- Cooling system works very well even with high ambient temps
- Great fuel efficiency. Over 25 mpg around town.
- Blower motor works well
- All lights and horn work as they should
- Windshield wipers work well (replaced this winter)
- Rubber in good shape (weather stripping, TREs, etc.)
Imperfections:
- No radio included (but factory harness and speakers intact)
- Some rust on passenger side panel directly behind the door, in front of the fender
- Resprayed paint job is peeling in a few small places
- Heater works well, though the valve has to be actuated from the engine bay. I turn it on in December and off in March. Easy to replace the factory actuating mechanism to interconnect to in dash control, all parts are there.
- Windshield washer pump is not functioning–have not diagnosed, could be as simple as a fuse.
