Can anybody tell these 2 colors apart? Are they so close that in different lights one looks like the other and vice versa? I see many more pictures of 40s listed as Rustic Green (621) vs Deep Green (632). Different Cruisers listed as the same color often look like a different color green even though their color code is the same.

Could be that I'm just color blind but wanted to see what others think.

They are not close, at least to me. Rustic Green is lighter and a different shade of green.

I would think that they would be pretty easy to distinguish given their availability overlapped by several years. Does anybody have a Deep Green (632) that they can post a picture of. When I search Deep Green many of the pictures that are pulled up are actually Rustic Green, especially on Google.

@MadMace Have you had any luck getting more info?

I am in the same boat. From what I can tell from some sparse online references I have Deep Green, but there are no actual official references to that color. The Sherwin Williams paint supply has old paint chip books, but none show Deep Green. Code 632 comes up as "Judson", and that is a darker, slightly bluer green (similar to Rustic). I have seen every other green that is referenced on this forum be represented as a paint chip in official Toyota color books except "Deep Green", though people seem to know it as a real original color.

Has anyone actually painted their truck in an official "Deep Green" color? How did you or the paint supply find it. Color matching is difficult because the paint on mine is somewhat faded.

Examples of what I've seen and like:
ImportArchive / Toyota Land Cruiser 1961‑1983 Touchup Paint Codes and Color Galleries
Nebula vs. Fashion Green...

I would love some input on this. I have what I believe is a rustic green 74 but before I go and refresh some of spots I would really like to know this! I dont want some camo looking paint job :)

Here is my 74 rustic green LC before I tore it apart and had it repainted. The front half and doors are original. Back was repaired and repainted at one point.

Here are the pics of my "Deep-Green" 100 series , me too, am confused with the rustic vs deep and in the sun, they both look the same. My vin code is jt3hj09j2yo033450. The color code is 6Q7.

I'm restoring a 40 series and was looking at color threads and stumbled upon this one !

hope it helps

Yes Rustic green is classified as a Dark Blue Green by Toyota.
The blue is subtle but depending of light you see it.

Seems like Deep Green is classified as a Dark Olive Drab.
Thanks flx, what is this page & source. Can you share the whole page. Looks interesting.

Try this out.

I don't like Rustic Green because it's so blue. (they're mission Fashion Green here.)

It was very difficult to match without it looking too yellow or brown.

Beautiful beautifully done mate ❣️ this pic alone settles me firm on getting T621 on my 1978 BJ40 as well.

Can you elaborate on the paint brand, any dos or donts??

Is it single coat mix with clear coat or you will do a clear coat afterwards?

Cheers!

It is a custom blend of Glasurit, base/clear. 2 coats of green, 5 of clear. The formula that they scaled from was buried in a book from the 80s. The PPGT621 formula is available but came in dark. Here are two brands of 621 side by side. Not sure which brands but gives an idea of the difference.

And exactly what FJ40 part is THAT? ;-)

The one on the left (last image) looks better to me. Which blend is yours then 🤔😆 . Probably request that holy formula from you, if mine isn't looking good 👍
