Sweet, father in law had a small lodge up there in Soldatna and I fished it quite a bit.

:lol:And I thought I was the only guy who DD'd their truck, without power steering, on 35" or larger tires:lol:

Just ordered the LED's for the dash as well as all instr. too. :smokin:
Very excited to have the led lights over the standard. Should be here by weeks end. will post pics of the changes to "TONTO" when they arrive!

Thank you "sl33py"
Loved your thread on LED lights!!!

Well.......after reading "fourrunners" thread on a rear bumper build, I decided to fabricate one myself too. I built a bumper a couple years back that is extremely similar to Fourrunners.

I am heading to the metal store today to find all the stuff I need. I feel this is part of my existing face lift....so I will continue on this thread rather than start a new one. I'll post some photos this evening after some fab has taken place. I am going very similar to what fourrunner has done with a few changes ..... check in later to see.

Oh by the way.....thanks GLTHFJ60! Inspired me yet again!!!!!

WOW that looks great ....

Excited to see bumper... i'll continue to follow this thread. Great work man:clap:

Well.....here is what I accomplished yesterday. I started the drivers side gate. This side has the spare tire. I also put the reciever for the spindle inside the bumper. This way if I decide to remove the gates, I dont have a big spindle sticking up off my bumper like fourrunners design does. I got the drivers side gate done and painted. I am now waiting for the latches to arrive. I got the De-sta co 331 latch from drillspot.com $13.99 each. I also started the passenger side gate as well. I got the ladder built and will continue this project today.
Enjoy your sunday all!
I need to get away from the TV......... I am stuck watching the "MAVERICKS SURFING COMP":smokin:

I'LL HAVE TO POST MORE LATER TONIGHT AS THESE 3 PHOTOS TOOK ME MORE THAN AN HOUR TO UPLOAD......THE NET IS BEING UPSET.
TIME TO GET TO WORK!!!

Wow, man...the bumper is looking great. What are you using for the swing-out bearing?

Can you take some close-ups of your rocker/slider setup?

Its dark right now but I'll get some shots up for ya in the morning. Im using a 2,000 lb. spindle with a fabed up hub assembly made of 2in OD and 2in ID pipe.

Here is how I have my sliders set up. I still have the OEM rockers so I protect them with 3/4 by 3/4 solid flat stock welded at the seam like the last photo shows.
The rocker are also bolted to the frame and connected with a tube truss. also shown in the photos. Hope this helps you with some:idea:'S
Let me know if you need more shots of other areas too.

Yo Alaska, Thanks for posting the pic of the sliders. I like the clean look of the design. Not sure yet what I will do, but it'll be interesting once I get to that point.

later.

If I was you.... I would cut your rockers out and just run the flat stock in place of the OEM rocker panel. Lay it out flat with a slight lip up to the door. Just an idea.

So I am finished with the rear gates for now. I just have a spare tire rack on the drivers side and a ladder that leads to NOWWHERE! :doh:Since I built the ladder......I now need to build a roof rack:clap:...I am thinking 1inch square tube and 3/4 inch square tube for the rack design.. I like all the square lines rather than the tube. Especially for the ladder......It matches the square lines of the bumber. I used the DE-Stay-co 331 latches too. They have a 700 pound rating and I think they'll hold fine.

These gates and bumper are a bit of a rip off from "fourrunner" I know some of you have been nagging him for almost a year for a rear bumper........
I figured rather than wait that long..........just do it yourself!
It was less than $175 total for all the metal and hardware!!!!!!

Next is the roof rack and a another small swing gate mounted off the ladder for Gas and water. Keep ya posted on the progress.

oh by the way, I dont start work for another week or two...................soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo................I got the time!

Do you have pics of your spindle/hub assembly and some detail about how you put it together? Where did you get the spindle?
