Got new weather stripping for the rear gate and hatch today. I also got new side markers for the front. I am expecting my new steering gear box tomorrow from UPS. Tomorrow I will complete the hatch and reassembly of the cruiser. it has been quite a project in little time. I will post some photos tomorrow too.

consider doing LED's in the front side markers - less heat makes them last a lot longer. Old ones w/ a lot of heat just crumble.

superbrightleds.com has a ton of options, but just about any local auto shop also now seems to carry them. worth looking into...

Coming along awesome Alaska! I'm so jealous!!! Wanna come up to seattle and knock mine out next?!? hehehe

Great job - thanks for the inspiration.

I have some friends in Ballard and freemont area. I could set it up. I have been checking the LED options. I like the look.:grinpimp: Thanks for the advice.

DAY 11!
Remember I took Sunday off and half day on Friday to swing some golf with the wifey......:D
While I am waiting for the final coat to dry on the rear hatch and the pass rear door, I thought I would shoot a few photos for everyone.
The first few are the final coats on the hatch and door. I'll post some more of the rig outside too. I also took all the emblems and primed and painted them flat black. I like the look!!
I also saved the side trim on the doors for the occasional shopping cart and dumb ass that decides to slam his door into me while parking. plus, I always liked that trim for some reason.:hhmm:
I also realized how dirty my head liner is too.... It's pretty gross. thats in the future.
I am expecting UPS today to drop off my Steering gear box as well as the front side markers. I havent had power steering for a year!!!! ......It will be sweet to hit the trail again.
I also threw in the masked murarder getting ready for another session of sanding.:smokin:

And some more........ I'm liking the flat black on this paint!!
I am also going to do the rims black this week too. When this is whole and complete I will do a nice photo shoot for you all.
Thanks for all the support and encouragement along the way.... Mud helped keep the driving force behind this project. Otherwise, It would have never happened till it was really bad....or even too late!

Day 12 and final day! ( well I still need a photo shoot)
Today i will mount the rear hatch as well as the pass rear door. I will button up all the trim on the pass side too. Looking forward to a long drive!

wow! Looks fantastic. Can't believe you did it in only a few days...

It's the best rattle can paint job i've ever seen. What was the final cost you estimate? A while back you showed about 110'ish cost so far.

WTG! Can't wait to see some posing shots with it all buttoned up.

Looks fantastic!!!! You should be a proud papa!

lookin sweet Alaska!!

more pics!

Encore!

Okay..... today is the final day to button things up for me on this project. I spent the late night hours last night finishing the rims. They came out great. After talking with NLXTACY about the rims. I decided to do what he did.... I painted them. I treated the aluminum with mineral spirits, hit it with 2 coats of primer and 4 coats of flat black.
I am going to take a wet soft cloth to the entire rig and give the inside a bath too. i am amazed at all the dirt and dust I collected inside.
Thanks so much everyone for all the nice comments along the way. You guys are truly cruiserheads and help keep the motivation rolling!
I'll post all pics tonight. I will also link the entire album of progress too.:smokin:

Awesome job, makes me want to quit procrastinating on mine, and get it done.....you're an inspiration!

I've never done a rattle can job of that magnitude, and that looks fantastic! I've done motorcycles and used rubbing compound and polish and got it to look pretty good, but could never imagine trying to do that on something that big. Now I have much more hope that I can do it myself. Thanks for all the inspiration!

That looks incredible, especially for a rattle-can job!!

Makes me really want to get the MIG I've been looking at so I can tear into mine the same way!

On kind of a side note, where did you get the headlight guards? I've been trying to find a set for a while now but keep coming up empty.
