The spindles I bought at a trailer supply shop. I also got the seals, races, bearings and caps there too. I paid about 20 bucks for each set up. The hubs for receiving the spindle I made out of 2 inch ID pipe 4 1/2 inches long. I then took a piece of 2 inch OD pipe 2 1/2 inches long and pounded it in to the bigger pipe for the stops on the races. I cut out the bumper on the drivers side and welded the hub pipe in the bumper. the spindle then goes into the bumper. On the pass side, I did the reverse........ Spindle welded into the bumper and hub welded to the gate.
I'll get some photos up later of the assembly up close.

Or ................................. you can buy them from Ironpig for 50 bucks plus shipping...each.
Heres a link for those. I hear these are pretty tough too.

Hope this helps

Wow man, the bumper looks great! can't wait to see how the rack turns out.

good job! it's going to be great with the rack on top. squares and angles actually look good on the 60, way better than round femish tubes! can u estimate a weight? on the full thing?

Thanks man,
The spare tire gate weighs about 25 lbs. (11 kilos)without the tire. The ladder gate weighs about 30 lbs (13 kilos) I used 2 x 3 rectangle tube. Light and strong. I also like the beefy look it has. Its as tough as it looks too.

However, I can relate to the Steelhead thing... I take 2-3 trips to Pulaski, NY every year to do some Steelie, Brown and Koho rod bending myself. Good times...

Tom, EXCELLENT work on the bumper!!! That looks just like mine did in my head when I designed mine.

By the way, your bumper rocks...can I talk you into selling me one? How much? Besides, really tired of the Forerunner wait...Let me know man. I would like the whole deal exactly the way you made yours. Would you be able or willing to duplicate for me? How much? I dont mind paying for shipping...

Actually, You said you are coming to MD for thanksgiving... If you can have a bumper done by then, just bring it with you!!! I have cash waiting!!!! By the way what ya shootin' over here? Goose or duck? I shoot a ton of skeet and trap but havent had much time to go shootin' at any birds. I just got the Atlas thrower for Christmas last year. I spend most of my off time shooting trap, bow, traveling, and fishing. I did here the stripers started runnin' in the Southern part of the Chessy. Good luck when you come out man!! Keep me posted on the bumper!!

This throws it back a bit, but what type of sealant did you use for the rain gutters?

Luke

No worries Luke,
Heres a photo of the stuff I used. Its not silicone. its an adhesive and sealant combo. Its strong stuff and acts like glue and sealer. After it dries it is still a bit plyable...much like the 20 plus year old stuff your pulling out of your gutters. Take the time to get all that old junk out too. I will pay off when you put the new stuff in.
I picked it up at home depot.
GL! :smokin:

Thanks for the nice words. As much as I would like to build you a bumper.... I dont know if its worth it for me. .........unless you want me to do for.....:hhmm:........................:hhmm: One Million dollars!!!!!!! LOL!

On a serious note.......I would consider it. It would take me about 10 days to build and finish. The cost would vary as if you would want it all powder coated or painted. As far as a figure......I dont know that right now. Prolly round $1,000.

We're flying out to Maryland..Shootin Geese and stripper fishing. and of course hanging with some Family and eatin the bird.

Alaska, If you will build it, powder coat it and ship it to me for $1000.00 I may be able to swallow that. Let me ponder a few days and I will let you know. I do really like the design alot!!! It really is nice and sleek!! Not over kill and tastefully done!! If you would do it for me I could send you money through paypal. $500.00 Down so you can purchase materials, $300 the day you are ready to ship it and then the final payment of $200, The day I receive it. Does that sound fair to you? I may even consider a road trip out to you to pick up and maybe even get some pointers on the install. Let me know. I am not a BS'er so if I tell you its a go, you will have the money that day. Let me know what you think!! TTYL.

Like I stated too....I am also in pondering mode. That is doable though. I'll PM ya tomorrow.

Hey Alaska,

I got out on the bike last weekend...did like 43 miles with a friend of mine. I did another 35mi ride this week on Wednesday with the Cincinnati Cycling Club. Other than that, I've been crazy busy @ work and no time has been spend on my rust issues.

Hey if you are looking for someone to make some drawings for the rack let me know! I was thinking about making an aluminum rack with my new welder...guess I should practice first!

See my bumper thread from last summer.

Must be nice. With snow on the ground I've been reduced to my trainer until next April. Robbie Ventura is keeping me busy though!

Very nice Alaska!

Your new name needs to be captain krylon! Love the paint job!

Melissa says it looks DAM good! :flipoff2:

You need to bring that sweet rig down to our shop so i can take a look!
