Taking a break from looking at the cowl cable in my 97LC. If you look at the pics, you will see why. I was wondering if anyone else encountered such grievous self-inflicted wounds in the wiring of their LC? Other than random cutting and joining unknown wires to each other, can anyone suggest a potential excuse for this madness?

I was leaning towards some security sort of deal, but what company could have designed a security system that required that sort of hacking...

Methhead

Did things work? What started you down this rabbit hole?

dang. i recognize some of that as factory, but that string of 5 relays and diodes soldered to the ignition switch, not to mention the cut and twisted splices screams a homeowner installed keyless/remote start unit and god knows what else. where are the 3m vampire taps or even Home Depot twist connectors that this level of ineptitude usually requires. i don't think even Best Buy would do it this way.

sorry you have to deal with that

Sorry, I did not see your replies. I thought I would get an email whenever I received a reply, but that is not the case. I must not have clicked some box when I started this question.

I am doing a total rebuild of every nut and bolt. Once I figured out that the 5-relay string and other assorted switches were not factory, I just started cutting all of that stuff off and I got things sort of back to OEM. Oh, and thankfully, the ignition switch is still available, so I have a new one coming. The old one in the photo, is too garbled up for me to deal with.
