All,

I had a '79 parts truck that I just finished scrapping. I noticed that it had little rubber pads inline with the hinges - they were in the channel on the cowl itself.

On my '74 the hood is rubbing on the lip of the cowl in the center and I have been wanting to fix it. I looked on SOR and CCOT to find these little rubber pads and did not.

Yellow circle shows where the pad would be.

1) Were they factory?
2) Anyone have a link to buy them or know of A suitable replacement?

Thanks!

I've never seen any pads in that location on any fj40. :meh:

You could silicone in a piece from a bicycle tire...

Edit: You mean rubber between the hinges and cowl/hood? Ah. I thought you meant in the channel between the cowl and hood.

I am not talking about the hinge pads - I already have them. These were like 1/2" thick rubber pads. They really did look factory, but I guess not!

The problem is that over the years my hood has "sagged" in the middle and rubs on the cowl in the center. I am sure I can find a piece of something that will work - I would just have rather used an OE piece if available.

Thanks for the help!
