Round LED Lights for ARB (1 Viewer)

Anyone out there using the Chinese copies of the ARB LED's? $145 a set versus $750 each.

I am thinking about getting these for the ARB. I will paint the red rings black.

Have a buddy who has those. He really likes them. I'll probably end up with the same. I don't mind paying for quality, but Rigid is really out there with their pricing. $1,500 for a pair of lights? That's crazy. There is no way that represents 10x the value regardless of what they say about reflector technology.

The only downside with the China boat specials is that they only come with what the call a "spot" beam pattern. Their version of 'flood' is a diffuser lens. Speaking of which, the Intensity lens covers fit, so you can be a poser and have very authentic looking ARB fakes if desired.

BTW, you don't have to paint them black. Just click on the black version in your link.

I think they're all the same, all out of the same factory, just packaged slightly differently. The $145 are 3w x 32 = 96 per enclosure. 2 enclosures x 96 = 192w. But who knows what the real power consumption is or the real lumens are. I've seen them in person and for $145 they throw a lot of light. Plus they look pretty bad a$$ and old-school compared to everyone else running a bar.

I've not seen the Rigids but I'd be very, very surprised if they through 10x the amount of light or lasted 10x as long.

I had a pair of those lights, but with the black outer ring, and then eventually sold them because I couldn't stand the light pattern.

Pros:

• Cheap
• Insanely bright from 0-50ft
• Awesome for slow speed trail work
• Look cool

Cons:

• Wiring sucked
• They are not spots, even without the spot covers on. These lights do not project past my high beams in any usable way.
• They are so bright, with such poor light focus they are unusable over 50mph.
• When the lights are on, the clear covers project light back at you. It sucks as much as you think it would.

In the end I did a 55W HID conversion on my Hella 4000's and I am much, much happier with the final product.

I am using as a high beam supplement as I switched to one piece depo lights that work ok.

I have a FJ-60 that doesnt go much faster than 50 mph.....I really need it for the backroad I live on. My Roundeye lights are cool but my old school round lights are weak at best. Hella 500 type garbage from Pro Comp

Yep, those definitely have the covers. One thought would be to forgo the covers and just put something like 3M clear bra over the front of the lights.

Why use covers at all? Protection or focus?

Protection. I ran the covers for the 6 months I had the lights on and the inner lens stayed like new, whereas the outer cover was starting to slightly discolor (faint yellowing) and was getting covered in light scratches (from clearing mud off covers).

My 60 is a road rig mainly. I think I will try them. If they suck I'm only out $150

I ordered the black ones but they were out and sent me the red ones. I'll hook up this weekend. On my 60 if I get blow back light from covers it won't matter. They are way under the hood line

I get no blow back. The lights sit low enough that I only see a little of the top ring. I will post a pic. Also, for $145, hard to beat and well built.
