Interesting, never thought of those (then again I don't have a factory rack)... but i have used those for outdoor cabling (surveillance, etc) and work very well.

Exactly. I am eventually going to have some permanent fixtures on my roof rack and some will require power so I'm trying to be pragmatic. Doing what SF80 did but in my LX color may look good.

Damn that is sooo tempting...

If you are running a roof rack did you consider running pass-thru's for electrical?

Kinda like these:
Heyco® Liquid Tight Cordgrips Straight-Thru, PG Hubs For Flexible Cords. For use in clearance or threaded holes.

I think that would be the only other thing I would consider. I have been thinking about doing this ever since we "took off" our roof rack :p

Yep, I have a few of these waiting for roof rack lights:

Amazon.com: Ancor 765000 Marine Grade Electrical Wire Seal (Round Cable, 10 to 2-Gauge, .24-.47 Cable Range, UV Black): Sports & Outdoors

I had them shoot their finest texture for easy cleanup and to make sure that the electrical connections make a good seal. I'll also probably use a little silver RTV sealant just in case also.

Oh, and the Line-x guys estimated 20 lbs of material went onto the roof. They had an "advertising" S-10 that they completely covered roof to sill and they weighed the material at 90 lbs. Not too worried about being top-heavy.

Sweet Action!! :) I like it... I want it...

That looks sweet!

I've been thinking about Line-X'ing my roof for a while now as the clear coat looks terrible, but was bit worried about heat soak! That's what the AC is for...
After seeing your rig, I'm definitely having it done. I'll probably do the hood too as it look as bad as the roof.

Nice job bro. Now I (I mean my wife) has one more mod to agonize over.

I've been considering a repaint for my hood and roof. I am going this route instead;)

Brian, would you mind sharing the name of the shop that did this for those of us in the Bay Area?

Thanks.

looks good, good color choice. (Although I'd be awfully tempted to go with a light color in sunny climes).

That stuff is thick...

Man - that looks sweet! I really like the way it came out even though I was skeptical when I first saw the post. Great work!

It was out in Antioch, I *think*. I'm in SF and anything across a bridge or tunnel is foreign territory for me. It was a nice place, newly converted shop. Not to far from an In-n-out? (Yum!) Hope that helps!

Looks great!

Damplifier does act as a thermal insulator because of the foil
Damplifier Pro does even better because of the ultra thick foil. 50% thicker = better heat reduction.

Looks awesome!

Thanks! Quick question: there are places where the damplifier got doubled up (either I was too lazy to trim properly or it was a rattle problem area.) Did I create an issue by doing that? Did I create a time paradox by having a foil layer in between?

interesting mod. Should be a lot quieter and stronger.
I'd have to see it in lighter color- a black roof just isn't practical for me.
It *looks* solid. I like it.

Very Nice B,.

I think they started doing some line'x here in Gilroy now. I'm going to ask on a price for the same job also.

Thanks

SF80, I like the results. Definitely a great foundation for an aftermarket roof rack.

Now that I hear LineX is color matching, I'm thinking a white total body coating would be the real deal.

Any thoughts as to the downside to LineXing the entire truck?

Upsides include no washing, waxing, or other paint maintenance issues; can use a power washer for cleaning :hillbilly: ; and, it's impervious to scratches from branches or car keys...where ever your wheeling takes you. :steer:

Nah

No problem
Damplifier and Damplifier Pro can be doubled up without issue. You are fine.

Con - Weight possibly

Pro - Color Matching :D, I like the outcome this a lot, but being I own and white and am fond of the color, I wouldn't want to throw black on top IMO.
