I do them in both trucks every christmas.

Father's Day gift to myself. Never loved the Factor 55 that I put on the GX last April so picked up the Harbor Freight Badland Apex forged alloy hook. 12k lb capacity, and my winch is a 12k unit. Should get it on the GX before the next wheeling trip.

Badlands stuff is legit. I have their soft shackles, a 30' kinetic recovery strap, and 8" tree saver. It is all heavy duty....I used the 30' strap to pull a stuck Chevy 2500 van with an attached trailer out of my snowy driveway.

I wanted to like F55 but I saw one their hooks split open under relatively light load. They do have great customer service but you can’t beat some of the badland recovery gear.

Much more exciting... tires are now in my garage along with the new wheels, lug nuts, and TPMS sensors. Hoping to line up a shop for M+B and alignment this week. These are Toyo Open Country R/T Trails, 255/80/17. Definitely narrower than the 34x10.5R17 KO2s that are on the GX now, and they stand just about the same height (BFGs on the Lexus and Toyos unmounted). Super stoked to get these on and see how they do!

Harbor Freight winch hook is on. All of 5 minutes to swap including finding tools and digging out the winch remote. Also ditched the license plate until I find a better solution.

Dissent makes a flip up plate bracket for their bumpers. Might want to call Ben and ask.

I just ordered this with a bumper. I don't have it yet but can give my impressions when I receive it.

I also picked up a Badland winch (that includes that same hook) yesterday on sale. Nice to see some endorsements for that brand.

Sorry but $149 for a license plate bracket is just highway robbery

Agreed....there is maybe $30 in laser-cut steel there (if you get it from Send Cut Send in small batches....for Victory who presumably has a big laser cutter, I bet it is less than $10), a $2 hinge, and $1 in hardware....

It would be very easy to DIY one of those.

Does your state require a front plate? In CA we're supposed to have one, but not often enforced.
For a long time I didn't have one, in CA usually it's more of an excuse to pull you over than anything in CA.
Doing a road trip some time ago over several states, when my wife and I were coming out of Utah, their state troopers were waiting near the state border and pull me over for not having a front license plate, and I wasn't even from their state!

Yeah I was thinking it's like $10 in parts plus a very specific bend to the mount to make it specific to their bumper, no way that's even $50 worth in parts/labor. They're milking customers on that one.

Yes. I've run vehicles with and without them and never had an issue. I have it in the driver door cubby in the event that I need it.

You could always just cable tie (zip tie) it with ties at the top and let it hang.

Less exciting but also replaced the air filter, not sure if this is the original one but it's the first time I've changed it since buying the GX in 2018.

Old on the left, new on the right

Would you mind posting the part number for that? The one I got from the dealer last didn't have the extra foam filter bit, but from what I understand it's a different part number that they think superceded it but didn't.

Also the 255/80s look good. Hopefully they ride well - I've been looking at skinnies too but they're all LT rather than P rated so I'm not sure I want to give up the comfort of a P rated 285 for a skinner tire.
