Does your state require a front plate? In CA we're supposed to have one, but not often enforced.
For a long time I didn't have one, in CA usually it's more of an excuse to pull you over than anything in CA.
Doing a road trip some time ago over several states, when my wife and I were coming out of Utah, their state troopers were waiting near the state border and pull me over for not having a front license plate, and I wasn't even from their state!
I lost my front plate in a mud hole last year and got pulled over driving back because the VA state troopers don't play. This was also a great job with traffic enforcement because while they were sitting on the side of the road with me, several cars drove by going 90+ but at least I also didn't have to pay anything in court since I got my license plate replaced immediately.

If another state's trooper pulled me over under the pretext of a missing front plate, I would be willing to spend an inordinate amount of money on the most annoying lawyer I could find just to ruin that cop's day.

Would you mind posting the part number for that? The one I got from the dealer last didn't have the extra foam filter bit, but from what I understand it's a different part number that they think superceded it but didn't.

Also the 255/80s look good. Hopefully they ride well - I've been looking at skinnies too but they're all LT rather than P rated so I'm not sure I want to give up the comfort of a P rated 285 for a skinner tire.
1780138051 is the P/N for the OEM Denso filter

That's a good one

Here's another license plate story...
We used to put painter's tape over our plates (front and rear) when autocrossing out of paranoia (it was rumored some insurance people would come by to snap photos). I was about half-way home stuck in traffic, looked in my mirror and noticed a cop was behind me. Immediately went to "Oh crap, I definitely didn't take the tape off my plates" and then the car in front of me moved up a few feet and I saw the reflection of the front of my WRX, painter's tape still on the plate and all. Needless to say I pulled my ass over as quick as possible and ripped off the tape, but the cop obviously couldn't have cared less. Still learned my lesson that day haha.

You'll definitley get pulled over here in MO for not having a front plate. Kind of frustrating considering we border 8 other states, and 5 of those don't require a front plate.

BUT, if you have a truck with a GVWR of 12,000 pounds or more, you legally can skip having a rear license plate, under the presumption that those trucks are usually towing trailers. Of course, every diesel bro uses this loophole to display a plate indicating their tractor, diesel engine, and/or firearm brand preference, even if they never tow anything.

Milestone today, still a baby compared to most

I will be turning over 143k soon.

Got the new wheel/tire setup on the GX. 255/80/17 Toyo R/T Trails and Pro Comp Heritage wheels. My favorite setup thus far at least on the looks front; should get a chance to test them off-road soon.

Initial on-road impressions are that the Toyos are slightly smoother and make the GX lighter on its feet. Bear in mind they need to break in, are a load range higher than the BFGs (E vs D), and I need to tinker with the PSI a bit, but very pleasantly surprised thus far. They're narrower but not drastically, and somehow it feels like there's less rolling resistance even despite the more aggressive tread pattern and higher load rating. So far so good.

Will post more pictures once the weather and my schedule cooperate.
