Rocker panel rot. Can I remove and replace the whole panel? (2 Viewers)

Does anyone know if there are any current available options for replacement 80 series rockers? I’m hoping in the last few years somethimg has become available. I am in need of both outer rockers, and one inner. Also pass wheel arc. I got excited when I saw that alphaparts site, as it was exactly what I was looking for, then noticed they only had them available for the 60 series. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am showing still available from Toyota.

If you want to check out how panel replacement is done on a Cruiser, tons of pics here.

Cheers

Fantastic. Thank you very much for all of this info.

Do you know if there is a diagram / pic that shows all the body panels so I can make sure I order the right stuff? Those outer rockers are obviously definitely the correct ones, but I need inner passenger side rocker and passenger side rear fender. Some of the parts are self explanatory, but others are not.

Then these guys to buy from inside the USA.

I have been using these guy and been happy tell my last order. It was over two week before they shipped and that was after I sent a few emails trying to find out where my parts were. I well still use them, just a heads up if you need parts in a timely manner.

I typically only use them for rubber parts. They are WAAAAY cheaper on those than domestic shipments. I have not done any body panels. I typically wait 5-7 days for my shipments, but I am in the Midwest. I have heard of those on the east coast receiving in 3-5 days.

I typically see shipments from them in 7 to 10 days to the west coast in a small town. This last time it was 21 days.
And yes even with international shipping the prices are good. ;)

Kids ran off with the nuts that hold on the wipers on my 80. Looked on Joey’s website and found part #s. Then partsouq had them for 94 cents each. 15$ with shipping and had them in 5 days. From Dubai 😮 super easy checkout w/ PayPal too.

Just put your vin # in the site, you get the correct parts no worries.

Do yourself a favor and replace your rusted out cruiser with a no rust one from the sunbelt. You will be way ahead on time, money and frustration. Rust is a never ending problem.

I am seeing that the left outer rocker is listed as NA from US toyota parts dealers (at least the ones I checked that usually show accurate stock but I am not an expert on this). But most of the other parts are available.

You can find the left outer from PartSouq but shipping is fairly steep. They have a few variations on ebay as well with varying shipping costs and that seems to be the cheapest I could find.

@Pin_Head If all of us from New England go to buy cruisers from the sunbelt prices will go up even more. Also do you want us rusting out more cruisers? I have my trucks to use.

@akrover s truck is far from a rusted out cruiser. I have seen it and bought some rusty parts off of it (but they weren't that rusty) after he replaced due to rust on it. (I bought the tailgate for the glass) and honestly fixed the rust on it just to have as a spare. If he wants to sell his truck and get a rust free one I bet he will have a good market here in Maine as most are total rust buckets in this area.

The issue is to drive them here in the winter they will all eventually rust, it just is that many of us take lots of steps to keep them from becoming total rust buckets. They are amazing trucks to drive in the winter here and many of us need that for the traveling we do. That is why I am planning on my semi annual application of fluid film/wool wax this week to all my vehicles. It sort of like the need for sun shades or covering your trucks in the south so the dashes don't get cooked and the clear coat doesn't get baked off. We all have to deal with the issues inherent to our areas but it doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to use them for their intended purpose.

Thank you John. Exactly. It has become a part of the family. The 80 brought both my girls home from the hospital and has shared in so many good memories over the years. I'd feel terrible replacing it over a few thousand dollars. if I do this, and then source two rust free rear doors, I'll be back in business for a long while.

Thank you for the eBay tip. It looks like I can get both outer rockers there relatively cheaply shipped. I am finding the right inner 57401-60050 seems to be NLA, but hopefully I'll be able to track one down.

Check with @slow95z and @arcteryx for used parts. (GA and TX respectively) Be patient if they don't get back to you right away, @slow95z is fighting illness in their family (not covid)

Yeah, I am around for now. Hit me up with what you need.

akrover, did you ever find anything?

well, nothing easy. I had @slow95z cut the rockers / panels and had them shipped and welded in here. It came out really well, but was not an easy process. I still need to find a clean green front driver’s fender, and then I should be all clean. Or, as about clean as a truck that has been in MA and ME for 27 years can be.

I have a clean driver's fender too but the clear is shot
