Does anyone have a photo of how a RTT exactly attaches to the front runner roof rack. (I got Tepui tent) and will need to do the install next week.

May not be the same on the Tepui, but here's how the Eezi-Awn mounts using the Front Runner tent mounting kit. Very simple bracket. For each mounting bracket there are two bolts to the rack, one to the tent rail.

Tepui has the same long aluminum rails but it seems like you connected it to something else?
I will order the mounting kit. Either way I will bolt down that thing somehow lol

Mine is connected to the aluminum rails as well. There are rails going both directions. In the picture, the bolt is going through the rail that is perpendicular to the rack cross bar. This way I could make back and forth adjustments with just one bolt per mount.

A couple of pics I thought I'd post.

THe rack has an ingenious bolt on system. The nut is slipped in to the rail along the outer corners to mount accessories. First two pics.

The last picture is of the axe mount fully installed. It is just awesome.

One more with both straps on.

Tepui and most other RTT's using the aluminum channel can easily bolt to our rack using our tent mount brackets. They have a sturdier design now then a previous post, but its basically the same idea. Lifting the tent a little bit makes accessing the mounting bolts much easier. You are also able to remove the entire tent with or without the brackets still attached, making it pretty easy to remove/install in between trips.

In the process of putting the slimline II together. Very impressed with craftsmanship and how well all the part fit together.

+1

It would be impossible for the rack to have a better fit and finish.

Nice setup!

With v1.0 (what I have) the rack came in one piece.

v2.0 looks like lots of room for infinite adjustments.

Really like the new axe mount too with the rubber adjustments.

After hassling their personnel incessantly, I ordered a front runner Slimline II rack last night. Let's hope it ships soon.

I have no intention of keeping my stock rack, if you want it, speak now or forever blah, blah, blah. I tried briefly last night to begin removing the stock rack, got the rear bolts removed, but the front is a bit of a pain and though I don't care for my stock roof rack, i hate to damage it needlessly. Can I simply use some screwdrivers to remove the front protective cover on the stock roof rack?

Also, for those that have already installed, how long did it take to install the Slimline II? Assuming I have already removed the stock rack..

If you are talking assembly and then making it square on the roof. 4-5hrs by yourself. Get help to get it up top.
I lifted mine from the back of the vehicle. Then put heavy fabric on the roof and slid it to where it will approximately sit.
Also get ratchet flexible wrench for 13mm(double check the size of nuts that hold 90% of the rack together). It will make your life much easier

I'm a big fan of my FRunner, but the last few weeks have developed a bad vibration that I can't get rid of...

Every bump, no matter how small, sounds like the whole rack is about to bounce off. Have tightened every sigle bolt on the rack, no change. Have removed all accessories...no change.

Anybody run into this before? Only step left for me is to remove and reinstall...

No clue - usually once or twice a year I'll go around and check all the bolts. 3 yrs. no prob so far.

Could it be a slat coming loose? Long shot, but . . .

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I just removed my stock rack. There was quite a bit of rust/corrosion on the middle bolts, and it was a beatdown to remove.

Next move is to find the ratchet as you mentioned.

But let me ask this...how many new frontrunner 'legs' are there? Where do they attach? Also, I simply removed the legs and associated bolts from my factory rack. Can I go ahead and remove the plastic strip that runs lengthwise down the side as well? Does the Front Runner install kit include it's own strip?

Ok so I attached the picture of the wrench that you want also the picture of the cruiser showing 4 legs per side and their approximate location I can take a better one for you tomorrow. The very front leg was at the edge of the front runner provided rails as I wanted it to allow for the most support of the front portion of the roof rack that is hanging over and beyond your sunroof.
The placement of the legs if really up to you as you can slide then anywhere along the length of the front runner provided rails.
As far as removing the "cheap" easy bendable aluminum coated with plastic OEM strips.
Yes I took then right out. Mine had trapped lots of mud and leaves and were causing some rust issues that you mentioned. I took them right out and cleaned the surfaces below. I also applied anti seize grease to all the new bolts and anti rust components to the surfaces if were present.
The front runner roof rack come with 2 7' rails and 2 7+' rubber strips which attach by double sided tape to the rails. Make sure to watch the groove of the rubber strips to fit the rails.
Anyways the whole box and assembly looks a bit like WTF?!?! But if you follow each instructions and don't loose no hardware you will be fine.
I found the biggest pain is trying to square the roof rack side to side, height, front and back with all 8 legs which move in every direction I mentioned.
Id suggest doing height first (no real play there)
Back and forth and finally side to side. But you might figure out a better way. Just make sure to have at Least a 6 pack, good tunes and extra person just in case...

Braver man than I am to drive with that axe pointing down over my arm... Lol

Not an axe attachment. He used shovel one for an axe.
An axe one provides nice secure metal pocket even though the lockable plate is too big for my axe and I can slide it out without taking the lock off lol. However it would still never chop an arm off as the blade point upwards and would never fall straight down. Maybe time for a bigger axe...
