I was thinking to remove my rack and rhino line it myself.

x3 on bare aluminum.... only downside is that it corrodes if not coated.

I'm partial to the track style, infinitely adjustable mounting seen on the AO, Eezi-awn and FR racks. I think they are all compatible with the Yakima control towers.

For noise concerns, my AO half rack is probably a 2 or 3 on a scale from 1-10... 1 being stock rack. When carrying long items, I just add a thule bar up front.

The lab rack is very nice, but with a couple of extra bars(a must for me), the price really goes up... The front runner is $1289, shipped to me.

Talk to Shane directly. He might have something for you. You gave a lot of cross bar options. M load bars, Yakima, Thule, etc. I have 5 additional 3" wide crossbars. They work great.

^^ Ditto.

All are good options.

The FR v1 has worked out well. I also recently saw on the FR Outfitters Facebook page that they are coming out w/ an LED light bar and brackets.

Have anyone taken a decibel reading with there rack loaded /unloaded

With stuff strapped to the roof (I don't have a proper rack, but Yak cross bars with basket), there is some noise, but not bad. You can always use the noise-neutralizer located on the center of your dash.

I recently sold my Rhino Rack pioneer rack in favor of a new Eezi Awn rack from Equipt..

Take that as you will....

I guess it is because not everyone has access to cheap material and skills/tools to do the job themselves.

I personally couldn't even find enough still for $250 to build one. Never mind welding machine etc.

It's the same like a carpenter here could go and build a kick ass drawer system.

It's a land cruiser not a jeep. I don't notice any additional noise with the LabRak and a diffuser or fairing.

I priced out building one like the LabRak or front runner and it ended up not being worth my time to build it myself.

Weeee... :D
