I switched my 100, my FIL's 100, and my wife's 4 runner to the pfran reverse bulbs a couple years ago but I still need more light. Actually, the LED bulbs provide zero light to the first 6 feet directly behind the vehicles rear tire (on all three) and likewise my FIL's screen (when in reverse) doesnt show as much clarity as it did with factory bulbs.

My question is, are there any other bulb options that are available that you've found to be brighter that we can try out? We're not wanting to mount/wire auxillary reverse lights but rather wanting to utilize existing OEM locations.

Thanks.

I see. I don't know of anything else

I understand you don't want an invasive procedure to add lights. My solution may be of interest to you bc it extremely cheap and very easy to perform. The LEDs I added provide enough illumination right before the oem LEDs kick in.
I installed the strips on my oem hitch but they can be placed on any surface (3M glue backing).
This is how the look turned off, they look like safety decals:

Once turned on (by selecting reverse - no switches):

If you are interested I can post pics of the procedure and item number on Amazon ($9!!! Total cost if you have Amazinon Prime).

Hi there!

Here's the steps I took:

I ordered:

Then I went around looking for the reverse cable. These run in a group under the 100 on the driver side between the spare tire location and the fuel overflow hose (the one with the #part tag):

Original thought was to get the connector to plug in and wire from there but Toyota only sells the full harness at $600!!! Or so. Therefore I decided (after talking to a Toyota mechanic) to just tap directly to the cable. FYI he also adviced that the 4 prong connector to the hitch does NOT include reverse. So don't go that route.
Here's what I did:
1)Remove drivers rear lamp
2) Run new cable thru the opening shown, you must remove the plug (shown)to do this. Easiest way is to attach cable to a zip cable to push it thru:

Then you can use side by side quick slice connectors to attach new cable to oem reverse lights. I didn't have any so I went the long way round. First soldering, second glue gun and finally electric tape:

Ran out of capacity to post pics:
Hers the glue gun:

From here is pretty self evident. Zip tie and run cable following oem spots.

Peel off backing of LEDs and Presto!

Thanks for the link...nice lights. This will allow me to remove the tractor work lights hung underneath the rear bumper corners. ;)

Anybody else found a good reverse bulb?
I'm ready to just go back to oem.

How have the LED lights held up after 2+ years of use?
