After a little vacation time, I've got some nice progress to report. I'm really excited with progress @Mechnizer is making. And hey, it's only 109° in Phoenix today.

Engine with head back from the machine shop, all looking solid and getting put back together. And hey, the cover is back to silver.

Dave will end up with a very close to new LandCruiser .
A lot of work, 7 days 12 hours of dedication to this project and We should be driving Hank end of August .
Now who can say they can completely restore a 40 in 4 months !

Thanks to Marshall "trolhole" for coming thru with a carb and Dizzy in a relatively short time frame .

* Big note if you can at all stay away from JT OUTFITTERS do so, dealing with their wrong parts and extremely long shipping time frames, SUCK'S'.

Did I miss something or did you choose not to repaint the body exterior while you had it off the frame?

I haven't had photos to post, so haven't updated in quite a while. @Mechnizer has been doing exterior body work and will be giving it some paint in the original color. Body didn't come off the frame.

The plan from @Mechnizer is to be wrapping up his work on Hank by August 30th. The priority is to be driving at that point, and I can work on further cosmetics (upholstery for example) later. Hopefully the parts suppliers don't sabotage that goal!

wow! 2 weeks to go. you are probably getting very anxious now! i hope he left you something to do besides the upholstery ;)

@Mechnizer has been very detailed, way more than I even hoped! This 40 looks to be shaping up into a gem. There will definitely be more for us to do, and get some personal sweat equity into it.

I'm beyond anxious at this point!

I had to go back and look at the pictures. I would have sworn you had the body off, glad I didn't make any bets:)
The "Journey" thread and now your build thread are well put together. I can say for certain that you are way more patient than I am. I bought the second 40 I saw just about a month ago.

you may want to tighten the adjustment screw on the windshield wipers so they are both parallel - just sayin'

oh, and the windshield bumpers are oriented the wrong way ;)

Looking great! I know I'm late to the party, but was catching up on your truck. These are not the greatest pics - it's one of those things where you think you took upteen pictures of each part of your teardown, but apparently missed the points that matter...

Here is a pic of where my factory speakers were installed. One each above the kick vents.

You can barely see it behind the fuse block and next to one of the emissions pieces.

Here is a pic of the speaker disassembled. It's a pain finding a speaker that is 1" in depth. Best I could do is the retrosound speakers at 1.3" deep. I'm sure it'll still be less than adequate, but in this position you don't have to sacrifice kick vents or door cards.
