Got front PS shock mocked and tie rod mocked to cycle and look for clearance all around... Shock clears frame and tire , tire clears fender and frame.... Think I'll have to stick to 35s for now. I don't want to trim any sheet metal. I love the way it looks stock....Lots of travel. I'll have bump stops and limit straps to keep it in range.. Can now move on to building hoops and engine cage ... Sway bar will be similar to the new JK jeeps.

Shock mounts located. They are s little offset so no binding during flex... Looks kinds cool though. Now that they're located, we'll finish welding everything and order my front Kings...... More to come

I need momentum....

Based on the pics, I believe it to be the most well thought out linked Pig I've seen, one of the better linked Cruisers, in general.

Looks like a more neutral set up and the rear appears to track straight when articulated.

Love to see the calcs, but don't blame for not sharing...haha.

Full hydro up front? Is that legit in CA?
 
It's got an 80 steering box which should be ok with 35s. Hydro assist if it gets to that. Still need bump stops, limit straps and a sway bar. Not much room after that. I'll PM you the calcs... The rear is going to be trick with the cantilever setup. Stay tuned for that...my buddy doing the design is from long travel desert racing. This is kinda fun and a challenge for him.
 
Are you gonna have to do some cutting to get the front fenders and such back on? Those shocks are crazy! Just wanna put it out there when it comes time to go wheeling I will make the drive down!!! I want to see that thing crush!

How is the work going on that crazy suburban? Just for my tripn, any chance of a picture of what has been done on that rear end?
 
It's got an 80 steering box which should be ok with 35s.

80 Gearbox is good for, at least, 37s, betting a lot larger. Ran before rolling my 80, no issues to speak of, granted 105 sector shaft and pitman arm, whatever nominal gain they afford.

Biggest issue with the 80 power steering, 37s, and rocks is the fluid boils, pump cavitation, and whining due to. Probably not an issue on yours.

My question is how the 4 link with no panhard and a frame mounted box is gonna not wanna rip the links off?

This is kinda fun and a challenge for him.

I have a funner challenge, if he bores of yours.
 
It's like the Wild West of fabrication... He's been working on the front steering/links for a while... Says it's gonna work. The steering is all hooked up and clears without binding with full articulation either side. I just hope this rig is daily drivable. I plan on ditching my 80 once it's roadworthy... I miss my piggy.
 
I've seen a 4 link front without a panhard, running a stationary gearbox, all have been full hydro.

I'll qualify my experience as nada squat, but seems the box would want to rip the links off.

I do know my directive for the linked suspension pending on non-80....since the suspension on my 80 failed epically, will be neutral, or "high speed" capable.

Betting you'll be in good shape for DDing, based on other rides I've seen in his shop.

To me, doesn't matter how kick ass it crawls, if it's uncontrollable after 60mph.
 
Got engine cage in. Need to do some gusset work at frame and trim mount tubes. New shocks should be in next week... Designing rear cantilever mounting now... Will post any progress..
