I've found that the location of the stock lighter gets in the way of 3rd gear in a 60, so I made a little panel that fills the ashtray section of the dash. Planning to put a new 12v cig style socket in there as well as a 2-port USB charger and a switch for my (eventual) dual-battery setup.

although, bulky.... it does a great job at charging.... blue sea 1045

I replaced the Toyota cigarette lighter with this after 12V cigarette lighter plug-ins from gas stations kept blowing radio and lighter fuses for some reason. It's got the added benefits of telling you your battery voltage (if that concerns you for some reason) and that there's 2 ports (so you and your significant other don't get into arguments about whose turn it is to charge). Easy to install with a couple spade connectors, the hardest part is getting the stock lighter out.

Here is what I did. Products can be bought from Quicksilver Radio on line, or Amazon.

Did you wire it to a switched or constant on? Does the battery voltage read all the time?

I ordered this. I'll wire the chargers to constant and the battery voltage to a switched on source.

Paid a little extra for it to be green and match the rest.

I used the wires which were previously powering the lighter - so switch power (no voltage reading when off). I'm trying to think if you can find a power source back in there (dash) that's not switch power but I'm coming up blank. You might have to run it to a spare in the fuse box, which is simple enough...

I'd likely run it off of the aux fuse box that I put up front by the battery. I prefer to run things separate of the factory fuse box.

For my seats I found a spare plug (think it was Toyota Aftermarket inclinometer plug) that has switched power via lights that I am powering them off of. Could always do that so it has specific run time (only when lights are on), or just do like @peterabbitcook and run off the cig lighter wire..

I have that same one sitting in my "Land Cruiser Stuff" wish list in Amazon. Focusing on body and paint ATM.
